Anyone seen this anime?
I had a roommate in college back in 1992 who adored this anime and this anime only. He even had a LaserDisc copy of the film he kept in the dorm (despite not having access to a LaserDisc player on campus) and had seen it about 100 times (even though he knew zero Japanese and had no subtitles). The guy even wrote a research paper on Heavy for his film class. Of which, must not have gone well since he became depressed after submitting it and didn’t want to do or talk about anything after that point. He dropped out of college the next semester (which I found strange since he seemed to be doing well, grade wise).

I’ve never seen Heavy myself but I have a pavlovian response of mild fear when I remember it. It seemed to have really derailed my roommate, at least for that one semester I knew him.

Seems like Anime Destroyed Him, rather than you.
