So yesterday I started reading this manga and it's already on my dropped list and the main reason for it is that Aya and Tooya have absolutely no chemistry and their "love" feels rushed and fake. So I looked it up and I am pretty sure she still ends up with him, even though Aya and Yuuhi have much better chemistry and his character is just so much more interesting. I know, It might just be my personal taste but what do you guys think? Did any of you feel the same way?

I felt the same way while watching. Toya is hot however being hot doesn't make you interesting. His whole missing his memories and having feelings for Aya makes no sense. It also makes him boring.

Hopefully the when I read the manga it will be better than what the anime was.

There is a reason why Toya has no memories, and has connections to Aya. This is learned around volumes 8/9, and unfortunately the final volume (14). It is crucial to the story and it does make more sense at these points. I admit the build up takes forever to get there, especially when Toya is pretty dull in earlier volumes.

Regarding Toya x Aya. Their relationship in the first half of the series is underwhelming, but later on when you learn about Toya’s memories it starts to develop better. Throughout the manga, other plots are introduced and you don’t see Toya half the time, for reasons I’m not gonna spoil here, but damn, these other plots make the story so much better than the actual “romance”. Toya sometimes will not show up for a couple of volumes at a time, so honestly the romance is secondary beyond anything else, and the main focus overall is Aya helping Ceres find her Hagoromo. I do agree that Aya and Yuhi have more chemistry, so I’m conflicted with this love triangle altogether lol at the end of the day Aya is infatuated with Toya because she can see they are both lost and confused individuals dealing with horrible circumstances, which brought them together; and she doesn’t feel so alone. She doesn’t connect this way with Yuhi and it shows. Personally, Toya x Aya seems to be depicted more as trauma bonding and it isn’t exactly healthy at times; later on their relationship starts to make more sense though. She takes Yuhi for granted because she’s so wrapped up with her infatuation with Toya and she doesn’t see the bigger picture. Sadly, I can relate to her and understand these characteristics. Yuhi is the healthiest choice between the two male protagonists, evidently.

Honestly, the manga is pretty dark, including it’s sci-fi elements, and I would solely recommend it for those reasons, not the romance. If you’re a fan of Stranger Things, this is very similar. Ceres is probably Yuu Watase’s most mature work she’s ever done. I’m not sure how the story is depicted in the anime, but for sure the manga is most likely better than the anime adaptation. I absolutely bet there are certain scenes not animated because of its mature content 😅

This is just my 2 cents overall since I just finished the manga lol I really enjoyed this series. 8/10
