Just a quick question. If I loved Bakuman, does that mean I will like Shirobako as well?

Mod edit:
Tittle changed.

dunno, i didnt watch Bakuman yet and I saw some episodes of Shirobako
Maybe Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun (since they are both about making comics)
Twitter and it's consequences had been a disaster for the human race

Bakuman and Shirobako are very different animes, even though they have kinda 'similar plot'. Bakuman is more like slice of life -ish anime with little bit of romance and comedy. Shirobako is clearly working anime, it has more info about what working in anime industry really is.

They are pretty similar, but only in the sense that both series focus on the creation of relatable medias.

Shirobako is heavily focused on the creation of anime. Many different aspects to creating anime are constantly displayed neatly in each episode which helps the viewer get a great understanding when situations arise.

Bakuman focuses on romance a lot, and has lengthy development. Also provides information for the viewer in a different way through time and through events in the story, which isn't problem.

If you liked Bakuman, you will like Shirobako.

Shirobako absolutely has romance, it just isn't between two characters - it's between the characters and the industry they're in. In fact, the manner in which ALL the characters go about their business with such adulation and dedication is a huge part of why the show is so good. Exodus! is a character (even represented on screen sometimes!), why can't that be the love story of the show?

Far more touching than the majority of other things.

Seeing how this topic is almost half a year old, OP has watched Shirobako in the meantime. Seems like he wasn't too impressed.

I loved Bakuman from episode 1 all the way to the end.

I dropped Shirobako after 2 episodes.
I was told to watch it past episode 5.
I am at episode 4 and it feels like I'm pulling teeth.
Yawning and bored every minute of it

The one time I felt suspense building up... the scene I was looking forward to just ending with 2 seconds.

Same story here.

How one can compare Shirobako's dull and plain characters, boring storytelling and zero action to well-balanced and interesting Bakuman?

I am amazed at how you can believe that two completely different shows may be comparable merely because there is one not so similar setting element which both shows share.

Unbelievable...

Pretty much agree with most people here. Just tried Shirobako, I can only endure up to episode 4. 5/10 dropped.
