| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Yes, this was the kind of episode I needed. Happy atmosphere (even the sad part about Mattia's mother got turned into something touching), they make an awesome team with Remi's experience and discipline and Mattia's business sense and creativity, and for a change they had a lucky streak on that wedding as well. 28 Francs really is a shitload of money going from the previous episodes. I'm not that big on them wanting to spend it all on a present for Remi's foster mom even though it's a sweet idea. I'm still worried about them starving or freezing once winter comes around. A cow definitely makes sense though and at least it means that they'll be saving up and not immediately spend it on something, which is good. Can't wait for the next episode, I hope they keep having fun on their travels. With the kind of money they have even some bad luck shouldn't wreck them, like it would have before. |

Saw another child sold in a WMT show and it was something around 1500 if not more. Rémi is so cheap indeed. I kinda dislike the fact they want to spend it just after getting it, it's like when Rémi threw away that 10-franc coin in the episode where she met that rich girl and couldn't attend to her birthday. In times of necessity that money would have come in handy. |

| Finally a (mostly) wholesome episode that felt right! This one might be my favorite so far! For as meaningful and comforting as Remi's stay with the Acquin family was, it just didn't feel right, it bugged me because for a while it felt like Remi could go on living there forever, but he wasn't meant to be there, anyways... It was so nice to see how Mattia fitted so well on the troupe, the way he got used to traveling long distances, his many tricks and talents, and his earnest feelings and generous soul, Remi couldn't have found a better companion. We even learn about his mom and how he ended up in Paris. I hope that even though the journey might get difficult, that in the end only good things will be in store for him now. Well, for them. They were pretty lucky to stumble upon that wedding, they made a good profit, and it was adorable to see them singing the ED song as they traveled. My only problem was the way those adults bullied a well-intentioned child instead of explaining in a nice way how much a cow is worth. My nitpick would be Mattia trying that smoking pipe (or that wine), I guess he wanted a taste of adulthood, but I'm glad he didn't seem to like it. Saving enough to buy a cow seems like a pipe dream, but who knows what will happen, I'm looking forward to it though. |
