It's the same as the manga. I thought they're gonna modernize it too like Madhouse did with Kiseijuu but that's not the case here. Good for the fans I guess.

Nice that it still retains that old school vibe from the manga. Wonder how the animation will looks like and how many cours this will be.

Kudos to the studio for keeping the old school look of the characters. I prefer them this way. Now, I just need to see a PV to get a feeling of the overall production values.

Right now, my only “concern” would be the overall length of the series. Out of 33 volumes, how much is the studio will be willing to animate? I’m not gonna get my hopes up for a thoroughly complete adaptation, right now I’m just interested to know how the studio will handle soo much material in a way that feels compelling.

Frankly, I would hope for at least 1 or 2 cours of 24 episodes each. I would like to say more, but taking in consideration the length of most of the studio’s previous works, and the fact that this is an really old manga, that would be somewhat unrealistic (2 cours of 24 episodes is already pushing it).

Anyway, I’m happy they're making this, but at the same time intrigue as why now. Maybe the manga is extremely popular in Japan and/or there is life-action series already in production, if so, then that would make sense, at least a bit.

The animation looks epic. What r the chances of this being Mappa's first long running series?

Pretty high.
I mean, i can't see them doin a 13 or 24/26 episode from a shounen of 313 chapters that ended in the middle of the 90'.
Anyway, this would be pretty stupid imo.

Great PV.
Again, it’s nice to see them sticking with the original “old-school” character designs for this.

The reality? I’d say close to zero…..

I just can’t see that studio working on this series for more than 24-26 episodes. Expecting them to adapt the whole thing (33 volumes of content) is just wishful thinking and way to unrealistic. So better keep your expectations low regarding that.

If they miraculously decide to go beyond that and make it an actual long running series to perfectly adapt it (an around +100 episodes series), then be prepared to see a massive drop in animation quality from what you’re seeing in the PV.

I could see Mappa doing just one season, then dropping from the project and leaving the whole thing to Studio Voln to finish it in other feature seasons........ It’s a possibility, a far-fetched one, but still....

Both songs sucked.

Different from what I was hoping for (not necessarily in a good way),but have faith it'll atleast be decent since MAPPA.

Also didn't like the voices of the MC and the beast thing :/

Just noticed the voice actors for the main couple in Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal are together again as main characters in this series, that should be amusing :p
I originally had no interest in this series, but my love for shounen can't resist.

The opening sounds old school and I love it. Very fitting for this series.

Expecting them to cut some materials based on the interview with the author but still nice to see it getting more than 2-cours.

Here's the interview for anyone interested:

So, 26 episodes for Summer and Fall with another 13 episodes coming in Spring? I'm okay with that. Glad it's getting 39 episodes instead of 33/36 episodes.

Something else interested that popped up there is...

> The anime's final episode will coincide with the manga's final battle.

Well, it's too bad they're going to cut out a lot of material, but I do understand why they would do that. At least we will see final battle, which I'm very happy about.

Wow already set for two seasons and it hasn't even started airing. Looks like they've got it all sorted ou--oh, it's MAPPA. Yep, instant PTW.
