First of all: That was just fucking beautiful.
I always love when we get character types we don't usually get, and that was the case for- surprisingly- both MCs. The way Ichikawa made it seem like they were made for each other despite not going for the "opposites attract" mantra impressed me. The quiet type (Narasaki, in this case) usually ends up being the tsundere. The delinquent-type did end up being a little bit of a tsun, but the fact that he was the one who came onto Narasaki at first made me want to die happy. Terashima's character is so lovable, and Ichikawa never fails to make me fall in love with every single one of her protagonists. There were so many fuwa fuwa moments in Blue Sky that almost killed me, but if I had to pick a favorite part in the manga, it'd be this page:

The moment I read those words, I knew this was going to be a really, really fricking good story. Out of the BL manga I've read, I don't recall an openly gay MC being executed as well as it was in Blue Sky. If there was one, it wasn't very memorable. Reading about Terashima discovering his own sexuality made him feel so... real. I feel like knowing a bit about this backstory of his helped me enjoy the boys' love even more ;v; When that bartender guy showed up, I thought for sure they were going to do it. I don't think I really would have minded, but I was surprised the author used him to move their relationship along. He didn't end up being that destructive one-night stand/ex, he ended up benefiting them. To be honest, that was one of the things that made me give Blue Sky a 10/10.

TL;DR That may just have been the best I've ever read by Ichikawa Kei.

i just freaking love how Ichikawa Kei always have these panels that have no dialog and just showing the characters staring at each other and stuffs (which make it quite realistic)
The very slow building of feelings are just UNF asjdhajkshd

I just felt like the ending was not as good as I expected it to be...? of maybe I just expected a bit too much?

Can't help but to compare this to Slow Starter. I prefer the latter tbh but I love both.
