| Onishi is badass, while Shinji was just embarrassing himself at the end. I wonder if Ichise simply released pent-up anger or the City "hacked" into his consciousness and pushed him to act in its best interest. Regardless, without context what he did was just funny and him shouting is a meme at this point 😅 |

| Ichise doing something crazy and unnecessary is par for the course now. It'd be out of character for him not to join in with the carnage for no real reason. Speaking of carnage, somehow none of the named characters seemingly died in it, despite it being a chaotic gunfight where one of the most important guys involved only uses a sheathed katana. How convenient. |

I tried hard to think about what Doc's intercuts shots could add narratively to the episode; it seems to me that as Doc is experimenting with transplantation using rats, seeing if they'll successfully adapt to their new limbs, Ichise is going through a period of adaptation himself - he's, at least at this point of the story, a man-beast: he seems to represent the most primitive aspect of humanity, which mirrors the artificial evolution by Texhnolyze. all that carries some importance as Ichise's journey to become a full fledge human, which he's not yet, is sort of the point of the story (or one of it's many points) 2. Konaka really knows how to be creepy... the scene where Oonishi's secretary dismember those guys really gets under the skin |
