If I have to write a report of Shrobako and to decide to categorize what type of the structure the show has, I would say it has something similar figure to the well-known U.S. TV series ER.
These two dramas are completely different but both organizations have their own special mission with highest priority and the drama depicts difficulty of team-works and endlessly coming problems that the main characters have to solve as soon as possible. The directors often use quick cutbacks and insert the parts where characters speaking long, fast and emotional lines to emphasis the seriousness of their problems, which is just a kind of stage effects to have the places are in an urgent atmosphere as a daily basis.
If you allow me to say it bluntly, you are not necessarily able to comprehend their dispute or what is going on there completely because it is a kind of decoration to make the things there look going dizzily. In my opinion, the central point of the show is many professionals do their best under the limited conditions and they are perplexed, saved, irritated, encouraged by their comrades everyday.
So, one easy way to enjoy watching Shirobako is, just to watch it twice or more. You don't need concentrate your mind firstly.Take it easy and just skimming it would be okay. You even don't have to comprehend who is who perfectly then. If you have a desire to understand what is going there, then you re-watch the certain part you would like to know more carefully and search for the net if there are some informative pages about the episode.

Weird, I am pretty sure I made a post here when it's first few episodes aired., weird. Something about, "this anime will rate at least 7.6-7.8" if it goes on like this. Hmmm it's not here anymore...

Anyways, look, it is rating 7.73 just before the final episode. Let's see if it hits the 7.9 mark (Don't see it hitting 8.00 tbh. I love it but I don't think it is rated high enough for that)

I will say this:

If the 5 female MC's were not beauties or bishoujo (however you wanna call it), I dont think this anime would be that popular

I don't think Shirobako is that much popular. However, it's really common in Japan to include cuteness in their show and I don't blame them for this. Shirobako isn't only an anime about anime. It's mostly an anime that need to be entertaining and they did it well.

The protagonists are quite pretty, yes, but there are also a lot of characters inspired from actual people. While it looks like a moe anime, the most part of Shirobako is truly realistic. Otherwise, if it only was about realism, it wouldn't look like an anime anymore, but more like a documentary about anime.

Shirobako did a successful job by choosing the right equilibrum between realism and fiction. This anime, in my opinion, deserve to be more popular.

There were actually people comparing this with a gay bois anime like Shounen Hollywood. LULZ.

The only part where Shirobako dropped the ball was when the studio had to hire new people in the second season and it was all young girls except for one guy, who turned out to be the lazy jerk. But that's just the beta mentality of otaku aimed anime in general, where girls are always inherently superior.

This show is just a team working on making an anime, and I think thats exactly why MAL wont like it.

Theres no unnecessary crying or monologues.
There are no grimdark pasts.
There is no Kung Fu or super powered bad guys.

This show executes making an anime fairly well for me, but I just don't think its what western fans want to see.
Result after airing: top 200 on MAL and rising...

Shows like Space Brothers and Bakuman have great ratings on MAL, this thread is just an excuse to feed into your elitism.
^ this guy got it right... if this anime will have more episodes like Bakuman and Space Brothers, it will be probably end up in top 100.
Humans are suspicious and jealous creatures. When they see something perfect, they wanna find a flaw.

You have much to learn if you have not joined the witch hunt to down vote every anime that rises above our underrated favorites. I am currently on a campaign to get Training with Hinako into the top 12. Shit taste is hard to fight though, it's like trying to talk sense to an army of hallucinating loonies.

It's hilarious to see morons wasting more time with the series they hate so much than the fans of it.

Too real? I love how it reflects the real life anime industry. At least we get to see a part of how hard it takes to make an anime series and put a comedic spin on it. I hate it when anime keeps following the generic anime tropes. Something like this is totally out of the box. It's probably an anime worker's version of slice of life, everything else is just comedy.
