"I've always loved you". Aww, and that comes in this final chapter. This was a charming manga imo, just unfortunate a bit short which is a shame.

Them feels at the end for Semiko. T_T

Wish the series was longer, but it wasn't bad at all!

Not going to lie. I shed a tear reading this chapter.

I loved it, this is definitely one of my more favorite finds out there.
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

That...was incredibly fucking sad. Literally came out of nowhere too.

What I'm curious about though is:
- If that really was Semiko whom he helped when she was young, why did she not die then? Are the cicada "people" only able to die in a week after they've become adults?
- Why was he able to see her that one time, and then she was invisible to him afterwards? Also why was her hair only pink that one time? When she started following him around, her hair was dark.
- Is the girl who met him and told him all of this going to die too since she showed herself to a human by taking on a human form?

A kinda late response, but here you are:
The reason why she didn't die back then was because they both were kids. The cicada-girl at the end told him that cicadas can be seen only by children, that's probably why he was able to see her and thus she didn't die, because it wasn't something she did by herself, it was just the ability of every existing cicada. It was explained aswell, that cicadas are going to die when they take a human form. Since she had to take a form for an adult human to notice her, she immediately was cursed. Why was her hair pink back then - that's the mystery, which I can't really answer to, but since the other girl had dark hair, maybe they just change like that when they become older? And as for the last question - yeah, I guess she's going to die aswell. Probably she was a friend of Semiko and she decided to sacrifice herself for her beloved friend, so her only and only one love will understand, what has happened and that Semiko truly loved him, but couldn't confess it to him while being still alive (probably because she didn't wan't him to feel sad, telling him she loves him but she has to leave him forever anyway, that's why she lied about meeting him the next summer).
Also, about my own opinion on this manga - was really, really touching and great. I haven't read such a shoujo manga in a long time and I really love it.

It's alright. Not exactly like I read it when it was new either lol. Thanks for the clarification.

"Semiko has died."

Well that hit me like a ton of bricks. Really came out of nowhere and was really sad. At least they had the hint at the end with rock that maybe somehow she's still alive.

That was a very nice, sweet, and tragic short story. I wish the chapters in the middle could have been a bit longer so we'd get to see more of them together. It's great that in the end......huh, just realized they gave the main character a name. It's great that everything will work out for him in the end. Meeting Semiko clearly changed his life for the better.

And I don't know when the original was written, but there are very obvious similarities to another anime/manga with the ending. I'm referring to
Similar concepts. Similar endings. Just this was much shorter with supernatural elements at play. I loved both of these stories.

It was short but good, I like it. It was clear from the start where the story would go, but despite this it was nice.
