This series doesn't really need recap episodes since they like having flashbacks at almost every episode.

At least it's one less episode needed.

Nice recap. It had insert songs, which are always great, and reminded us of some good moments featuring the best, and unfortunately wronged, twin: Kacchan.

Just a recap episode which is kinda useless, even though already 54 episodes have gone by, but not really much could be forgotten seeing that they give a flashback when referencing to a past event.

Man, I miss Kazuya. His character was too good to waste in an early death. The relationship drama just hasn't been the same since episode 27 or so, and the writers don't seem to have exploited the massive potential for some serious trauma to really shake things up. We had about three episodes of mourning and now his own parents act like nothing had happened. At least let Tatsuya shed a few tears for his dead bro once in a while.
Changing the subject entirely, This may sound really callous, but losing his brother was probably the best thing that ever happened to Tacchan. He's rally started to make something of himself now he's escaped his brother's shadow.

Old is Gold

"Look, look, we can do spinning shots without wasting our entire budget"
"Did you see? Look, it's all smooth and everything !"
"You're not looking, please, it's SO AWESOME LOOK AT HOW SPINNY IT IS!!!!"

Seeing Kazuya again is always p a i n.
But I'm glad for a recap. Whilst watching Urusei Yatsura I heard somewhere that home video releases for long-running anime weren't that common back in the 80's, not even VHS. So the studio would develop recaps once in a while to jog viewers' memories or be an introduction to people who jumped in watching from the middle. As of episode 55 Touch had been airing for at least a year or so.
I just think they could alleviate this issue by re-broadcasting past episodes in a different time block but I guess that'd be time consuming assuming they didn't already do that.

It's fun seeing older animation and seeing them improve in newer episodes. This is the type of thing you won't really notice unless there's side-by-side comparisons.
The additions of insert songs as a sort of montage of scenes also removed any boredom from this episode.

Heavily disagree. It's been more than a year since Kazuya died as of episode 54. You can't expect everyone to stay sad forever. I'm relieved the anime didn't go down the path where the characters who're still alive and well constantly remind themselves of a past trauma whether it's for motivation or anything else. That trope has become a cliché. As for Kacchan's parents, in case you don't remember they're not entirely childless now. They still have Tacchan and so do others.

This episode reminds me how Minami wasn't able to tell the truth to Kazuya.

Man... it's horrible. He lived only to realise her dream. Thing that he could achieve but didn't. And truth to be told, she didn't want to be with him and reject him in the worst possible way : saying nothing twice and crying the 2nd time instead of saying no properly.

but Kazuya was a "simp" . He knew the truth at the very end and still wanted to conquer her heart. ( even thought he didn't knew that she kissed his brother ) .

Feel's bad for him since episode 2 or 3.

R.I.P to him. I will even go further and say a thing that isn't true IRL but since it's an anime : It's a good thing that he died.
It's convenient for his brother and Minami.

because o my oh my... if he were alive, it would destroyed the relationship between brothers and end's up very weirdly.

Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes.
It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo.
