For fans of Minky Momo, this club exists to bring you information on all things Minky Momo.
Minky Momo was a franchise written by Takeshi Shudo (often credited as the creator of Minky Momo) and ran for 130 episodes; the first series from 1982-83, a second series from 1991-92, a move called La Ronde in My Dream, two standalone OVAs, The Station of Your Memories and Minky Momo in Bridge Over Dreams, and 3 unaired episodes for the second series.
It was a magical girl anime, and the first to be created by a studio that wasn't TOEI. Production Ashi (formerly Production Reed, formerly Production Ashi) still exists today, though doesn't have any apparent plans regarding the future of Minky Momo.
Takeshi Shudo expressed interest in creating a third series in 2006 based off the manga Miracle Dream Minky Momo, and it was green-lit by the production studio in 2009, but likely because of his death, never went beyond this stage.
The first series was licensed by Harmony Gold in 1986, was dubbed into English by an uncredited cast, and aired completely from 1987-1988 in Melbourne, Australia, but it was never released for home video (except on long out-of-print VHS tapes). Their license for the series likely lapsed sometime in the early '90s, and the second series was never licensed or produced by another studio in English.
For more than 20 years, the Harmony Gold English dub was thought to be lost. However, in 2015, Winckler Productions released 52 episodes (of 63 total episodes) of the Harmony Gold dub on Amazon Prime for America. It was purchasable until around 2017, but Winckler Productions removed it from Amazon Prime, likely not having any interest in renewing the license for Amazon's on-demand video streaming service for a very niche audience.
The movie, La Ronde in My Dream, was also dubbed into English and released on home video.
There is an entire Italian dub for the second series, Hold On To Your Dreams, and likely also for the first series. There is a full Spanish dub for at least the first series.
The first 8 episodes of the first series have been fansubbed by two different groups, as well as a few miscellaneous episodes by other fansub groups. There do not appear to be any fansubs available for any episodes of the second series. The two OVAs and Film have been fully fansubbed.
There is an ongoing fansubbing project for the first series of Minky Momo.
Both series are available in their entirety on Amazon Prime in Japan, and are also available physically in 3 boxes per series, each for 15000~19000¥. You can find them secondhand for as low as 8000¥. Amazon.co.jp is the cheapest and easiest site to buy these boxsets from, though there are a number of sites offering them.
