"In January of 2024, the first Virtual Reality Game in the world was officialy released. In the first month of selling, over 10.000 copies of the game were sold and it was a complete success until something went wrong. After all players entered the game, an error of sorts made it so that all players were stuck inside the game and that, whoever attempted to leave, would die permanently whenever dead inside the game. What was thought to be an accident went on for over three years, with more than 60% of the players who first entered the game dying before the operation was terminated. After two months, the players denounced that what happened inside the game was never an error but, in fact, a test from the Designer of the game and the creator of the Virtual Reality project where he locked all players inside the game and also announced that he himself had made it so that players who died in the game to die in the real world through manipulation of the machine utilized to enter the game. The man was found dead almost a week after these claims, and multiple messages left by him proved that the game was, in fact, a trap carefully laid. However, even after such happening, the world continued to utilize the technology created by Sakayoshi and the virtual reality to further impulse technology discovery. In the following ten years, the industry of games was infested with new types of games meant for Virtual Reality and using the same projects Sakayoshi himself had created. Over time, even his brother, along with high-value contacts, continued to evolve the technology he had discovered to new safety standards. Even so, there was one other things that Sakayoshi had also created. One that was forgotten by many due to being hidden carefully under all these discoveries. A full-fledged A.I. was created during the creation of Wanderall for the purpose of analysis and study of human reaction and nature. Based on a human brain, Sakayoshi had created an A.I. with powerful capabilities which could conquer the world if it so wished. Almost a hundred years passed. Humanity, based on the Virtual Reality Technology was able to connect the entire world under a single network connection that was now capable of controlling everything connected to the electricity-based network. This connection of radio waves and electrical waves created a huge net that worked as wired connection to everything that was powered in Earth." "It was in the year of 2085 that the first "contact" was made between man and A.I. And by contact, we mean that was the first time she attacked us virtually. Through the Virtual Reality, everyone's machines were turned off and we immediately lost connection to all servers and cloud backups. It was as if, on one minute, we were in command of the world and, in the other, there was something else commanding it. Something not even we knew of. From night to day all systems went down. Power farms and electrical generators went down in instants and, suddenly, the whole world went dark. We lost communication and, in about three hours after we lost connection, EMP blasts started to explode in areas all around the world, further increasing the difficulty of long-range communication. After a few days, everyone started to leave the big cities and go towards rural areas, attempting to find a new location to live. It was by then that the creation of domes began..." "It's been ten years since her full-scale invasion... Domes were intended as protections for larger rural cities where people would hide. The domes protected us from the daily EMP blasts that were transmitted from the larger cities. Due to the vulnerability of our Electrical and Radio networking generators, we started to live as we would in the early 2000's, with only electricity and wired connections. Use of wireless connections is prohibited and communications have returned to even before that. All our advances and all technologies I helped develop were now in her hands. Super computers have been invaded and multiple large-scale servers have gone corrupt in few hours. Satellites were used by her as methods of surveillance and new machines had been created in the cities, protecting important locations. Our weapons suffered from the EMP devices she had planted along with the weapons of massive destruction she now held in her hands as well. Military reaction against an A.I. at the age of our technological apex was the worst strategy possible. Still, some people attempted to fight against her. They tried their best to defeat her but, in the end, it was useless. She killed over 75%¨of world population in ten years and all she was doing was protecting herself. I still remember how I received multiple messages from her warning me of what was going to happen. Now, the only thing I can do is protect these people with the little knowledge I possess of her, passed to me by the people who were part of that stupid game... Over the last hundred years, humanity spread and started to explore the technology discovered by a single man called "Virtual Reality", commonly called Virtua. After the development of something called "Overseer Network", however, all technology created over the last eighty years was completely lost during a virtual attack from an unknown source. As such, humanity was forced the leave the big cities due to the constant EMP blasts. After the years, they started to rebuild their cities in rural areas, which were mere shadows when compared to the greater cities. To protect these small towns made from the ground, humanity created domes and started to focus on old technology from the early 2000's so that the Overseer Network wouldn't immediately connect them with the corrupted system. Over the last ten years, the expansion of farming and the new development of interconnected system using cables has been the major focus of the cities that are still alive. Internet is still active but no longer connected with the entire world, this time being content with only circling the cities and serving as communication device. The city you live in is called Jiharra, a city located at the Central America that served as a port for those who wanted to go through the Pacific Ocean to reach the Atlantic. The city's not even a hundredth part of the huge cities that compose the North America, but it's safe and that's all that matters for now. Aside from that, about two years ago, young people have started to be chosen for a project known as Project Payback, with scientists trying to discover a way to recover the Overseer Network so that they can go back to major cities... It is still unknown of whether this is going to work or not... Either way, welcome to the city of Jiharra.
