School Uniform Party Club!!

I find I was inspired to create this club for two distinct reasons: One is my perverse desire to gaze upon anime school uniforms. Two is...wait, no, there is no reason number two. The *third* reason for making this place was a story a close friend told me back when we were in Japan together for college. He was taking a trip on the Keihan line between Kyoto and Osaka, and he decided to play a little game he called 'how many different styles of Sailor Fuku can one train hold?' Sure enough, after that brief little trip, he had counted 23 different and disctinct designs on the SAME train! ...now I ask you, isn't that just the best dang thing in the world? That said, I invite you all to bask in the glory of the anime school uniform, and all it represents! Maybe while we're at it, we'll make some friends along the way, too! As a result, the Mascot Competition had its first ever Tie-Breaker! When the dust settled after an additional week of voting (hence the odd start time for Rena's reign), the action couldn't have been closer! Torako's supporters scored her 11 solid votes, but Rena's banner held high, and she snuck in for the win at 13! The action also saw the first male nominee, Youhei Sunohara, who in the first round of voting, tied several of the girls for second place! Honorable mention to our first lad nominee! As always, a new competition will be held quarterly (every three months). The winning character will have our usual bevy of ego-boosting prizes to enjoy, including the winning image emblazoned on the main page, a secondary image to be used as the "club picture", and illustrious induction into the club's character relations section! Of course, let's not forget recognition and bragging rights for the winning nominator! Here's a quick timeline (all times are EST, and will occur sometime between 11-12 in the evening): -Nomination thread opens: 6/12/2009 -Nomination thread closes: 6/26/2009 (nominations posted after this time and date will not be counted). -Voting thread opens: 6/26/2009 -Voting thread closes: 7/10/2009 (votes posted after this time and date will not be counted). So get thinking about what cute schoolgirl (or possibly strapping schoolboy) you'd like to see the honor of club mascot bestowed upon! <span style="color:blue">ALL club members are welcome, and encouraged, to participate!<!--color--></span> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <span style="color:red"> Without further ado, here are the <!--color--></span><span style="color:blue"> official rules!!<!--color--></span> The rules process is going to be streamlined a bit from the last time we did this, to keep confusion to as much of a minimum as possible. Throughout the month of August (and according to the timeline above), any members of the club may make character nominations for club mascot. Part of the month is devoted to nominating, and the other part is devoted to voting. It's quite simple, really...when the timeline ends, the character with the most votes takes office as the new mascot for the next three months. <span style="color:green">Keep one important thing in mind though--you're not just voting for your favorite character! Whatever image the nominator has posted, is the image that's going to end up plastered all over the main club page. You may love that character, but if you don't like the image, don't vote for them!<!--color--></span> Here's a handy "rules FAQ": <span style="color:blue">Okay, I'd like to nominate a character. To make a nomination, you need to add a post to the nomination discussion thread. In your post, you must tell us who you're nominating, what anime/manga/visual novel they're from, and you MUST include the image you hope will win your nominee the competition! Nominations without an image cannot be voted on, since we the voters have nothing to look at! You can nominate any anime/manga/visual character you choose, subject to the following guidelines: -The character must be clad in a recognizable school uniform. -The character must belong in a school uniform, in other words, the nomination has to make sense. You can pick a character that only seldom wears their uniform, or only had one for a brief time in their related series, if you like. What we're saying is, if the character never had a school uniform or doesn't belong in one, but you just happen to have a fanart image of them wearing one, well...no dice. -The image of your character can be a basic pose, an action shot, kinky, or whatever you like. You may NOT, however, post an image that is contrary to the policies of MAL! This includes blatant nudity, graphic sexual situations, an overabundance of violence, etc. If you're in doubt, send a PM to Hazumu with the image, and I'll let you know. -No character can win the competition more than once in a row, so no nominating the current reigning mascot until next time around! -A character nomination is subject to random removal without prior notice if one or more of these guidelines isn't observed. Each member, however, can only vote one time, so choose wisely! You don't have to nominate somebody to participate in the voting. Those who have made a nomination are also entitled to a vote, you may vote for your own nominee, or somebody else's--whatever you like. It's very simple. When the voting discussion thread opens, just make a new post, and tell us who you're voting for! Please wait until the voting thread opens, however. Here are the rules we observed back when that happened, and will if it happens again in the future: IF THERE IS A TIE IN THE VOTING PROCESS: A new thread will be created for the tie-breaker battle. All nominees who were part of the tie will be starting over <em>at zero votes</em>. Therefore, if you already voted for them once, you now have the opportunity to either change your vote, or vote for them again! Keep in mind that since all contestants involved in the tie are starting over at zero, your previous vote no longer counts...if you're still supporting your hero/heroine, be sure to vote again! The sudden death tie-breaker thread will run for one week from the time the tie is identified. Votes received after the date and time specified on the thread NOT be counted, so if you're thinking of coming back later, take a moment and cast your vote right away! As always, ALL club members, even ones who just joined, are entitled to one, and only one, vote in the tiebreaker.
