Subbed Vs. Dubbed

Information
Lets finally finish the life long debate of subbed or dubbed. Fans of either side can use these boards and forums as they see fit to debate that everlasting question! Some say dubbed brings an easier feel to the anime, while some say subbed retains the natural feel of the anime and makes it easier for the laguage to be translated more literally. I really dont know so you guys tell me! Score Subs=27 Dubs=4 Dont Care=1

Why can't dubs and subs just coexist (PLZ read description before answering)?

I can watch anime raw and understand almost everything, and i learned japanese through subbed anime

Yeah, but most people don't know Japanese, even a little bit.

Dubs are translated in a way that allow everyone to understand and enjoy the anime.

You do realize that when you dub something you don't get the full meaning of what they are saying either? Listening to it in Japanese and having the English subs is better because when you have the subs and the Japanese voice at the same time then you can get some of the hidden meanings or ambiguity in the speech that could not be translated (assuming you know a little Japanese)

Sub over Dub!

@ HaremAllMighty:

I'm not a dub hatter, I'm a dub lover. I like to understand what they are actually saying because I'm not convince the sub version write everything they say in Japanese.

Lolll~ Osaka seal of approval! ;D

Also, not all dubs are that bad~

Some of them are actually pretty amazing, especially when they match the characters of the voices.

However, like... other times it sounds too... american... ized..? or western-ized, and they pronounce the... honorifics... is it, weird, such as kun, san, chan, etc~

whats funny is im a member of the Anti-dub Division

Takarian | Feb 10, 2009 9:36 AM
I'm not really anti-dub... The first anime episode I ever watched was dubbed, so basically dubbed anime introduced me to the world of anime XD. However I would never watch a dubbed anime now. I think watching series dubbed ruins the anime experience...
