Information
Mifune (ミフネ) is a recurring human character who seems to be of normal birth (not witch/weapon/demon/shinigami). He has not demonstrated any abilities as a Meister, rather, as a samurai, who wields multiple normal weapons, nor has he wielded a Demon weapon, but does seem to know about them, as he was able to appreciate Tsubaki's abilities. Mifune has been hired by gangsters and the like repeatedly for for his bodyguard skills. Despite being a stern character, he has a soft spot for children and is hesitant to hurt them (the only known instance is Black☆Star, and that is to protect a younger child, Angela, and even then he holds back). <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/9/34416.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><strong>Personality</strong><!--center--></div> Mifune is the strong silent type of man, with a weakness for children. As a man, he sees himself as a protector of the defenseless, mainly children. He doesn't believe that children should be involved in fighting and would not fight one up until meeting Black☆Star. He only fights Black☆Star to try to show him why power isn't everything and he doesn't need to be consumed by the quest to be strong. He does respect Black☆Star as a fighter and gradually shifts to battling him as a man rather than a child. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ML_kFkjpdzE/SAlcHUOXhqI/AAAAAAAACpU/PYIVC-JugJY/s400/vlcsnap-113963.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><strong>Appearance</strong><!--center--></div> Mifune is a lean adult, who appears roughly the same age as Stein and Spirit. Mifune's typical clothing is his dark colored dress pants, sandals and wears a long coat on his shoulders. The shirt he wears varies between a dress shirt or a leisure shirt, but are always worn unkempt. He has been seen to wear a sweatshirt with the word OSAMURAI emblazened on the left breast, who were the policemen of ancient Japan, and who used the same katana that Mifune does. He is rarely observed without one or two cases filled with many swords, in order to use his signiture Infinite One Sword Style, that are tightly wrapped in bright yellow tape embelished multiple times with the words "KEEP OUT", Mifune's soul is also pictured to be wrapped in the same bright yellow tape. His hair is consistently long and shaggy, but the color of his hair varies. In the anime, his hair is a dull sand color. In color spots in the manga, his hair is golden blond. In the manga, his eye color is blue, but, in the anime, his eyes are brown. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ML_kFkjpdzE/SAlcGkOXhoI/AAAAAAAACpE/w7AMvV2Qop0/s400/vlcsnap-112823.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><strong>History</strong><!--center--></div> Mifune used to be the bodyguard for a mafia family, when he was sent to kill a rival family and retrieve the witch that they had, he met Angela. After 'kidnapping' her, he left the family to protect Angela. Eventually, Arachne forces him to protect her and Arachnophobia. Despite allying himself with witches, he has been noted to have a highly pure soul. He also compliments Tsubaki, stating that she is a great weapon and has a lot of potential (making her blush). Black☆Star was about to take his soul but stopped when he saw how Mifune was protecting the young witch, Angela. He acts like a big brother or father to Angela. At the end of the fight between Black☆Star and Mifune from when Black☆Star and Tsubaki were going to take revenge on Arachne for taking Maka's mobility, Tsubaki tells Mifune that he fits the qualities to become a teacher of Shibusen's staff. Mifune is surprised by this and blushes at the suggestion of him becoming a teacher and imagines a lot of children around Angela's age and a little older calling him "Mifune-Sensei". With this, Tsubaki is proven right that Mifune does have a liking for children. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://th09.deviantart.net/fs40/300W/f/2009/005/3/0/Soul_Eater___Mifune_Wallpaper_by_BishouHunter.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><strong>Abilities</strong><!--center--></div> Mifune's attacks center around his Infinite One-Sword Style. He uses the blunt side of the sword if he has to fight children, first shown in the first fight he had with Black☆Star. It has been noted that he has such skill with a sword to earn the title of "Sword God" (kenshin) and has shown that he is accustomed with numerous stances, which he chooses purposefully to specifically counter an opponents style. He displayed this by adapting to the Hasso stance to combat Black☆Star's Shadow Star: Zeroth Form - Masamune. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Three Shining Paths</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/e/ea/Three_Shining_Paths.png/300px-Three_Shining_Paths.png" border="0" /><!--center--></div> Three Paths Shot (三道射, Sandōuchi) is one of Mifune's sword moves, making use of the Infinite One-Sword Style. Using it he grabs onto three of his swords and throws them onto the ground creating a path. Then running along these swords Mifune grabs onto a fourth one and uses it to directly attack the opponent. Mifune firstly uses this move against Black Star in their second fight, to pin the chain of Tsubaki's kusarigama form to the ground, so as to restrict Black☆Star's movements and attack him directly. This demonstrates the accuracy at which each of the swords are cast, as they all land perfectly within the center of an individual chain link. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Addition (1-12 Blows)</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/4/4b/Addition_Blows.jpg/300px-Addition_Blows.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> This technique utilizes the numerous swords involved in the use of the Infinite One-Sword Style and both Mifune's skill and speed as a samurai. Mifune attacks the opponent a total of eleven times in rapid succession, each at different angles and positions. With each strike the sword is left behind attached to the opponent. He then lands the final blow, making a total of twelve devastating blows. This technique can be fatal to the enemy if successful and can end the battle. The attack itself relies upon the high speeds of the individual attacks and the momentary stun inflicted by the previous blows, allowing Mifune to grab one of the surrounding swords and continue with the technique. The damage inflicted by this attack can be doubled using the technique Multiplication, equaling a total of 24 blows. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Multiplication (Twenty Four Blows)</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/4/47/Multiplication_Blows.jpg/300px-Multiplication_Blows.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> This is a follow-up to Mifune's Addition technique. While the opponent is still impaled by the previous twelve strikes, Mifune attacks once again, striking these remaining swords so as to repeat the succession of movements preformed previously. This results in doubling the attack damage that was already done, as it cuts his opponent with the twelve swords all over again. This totals up to twenty-four strikes being recieved by the enemy within an incredibly short period, leaving little to no chance for a counter attack. The severe damage this move causes could very well end a battle. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Sword Fang</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/4/45/Sword_Fang.png/300px-Sword_Fang.png" border="0" /><!--center--></div> Mifune begins this attack by hitting three swords that had been previously positioned standing parallel to each other. By simultaneously hitting these swords near their sunken tips, it causes all three of them to slash upwards, in a manner reminiscent of a "fang". As Mifune has such an advanced level in both skill and accuracy, the swords can be precisely positioned so as they drop inside the opponents guard, making it almost impossible to avoid the subsequent attack without releasing their weapons first. While using Disorderly Line, Mifune is able to conduct a version of this technique that features a downwards slash. This is due largely to the fact that the swords are currently in mid-air when the attack is conducted, which means the swords are facing upwards rather than their typical downards position. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Vertical Line</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/7/7a/Vertical_Line.jpg/300px-Vertical_Line.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div> Following his Sword Fang; all three swords momentarily hover in the air, where Mifune will then proceed to use the current sword in his hand to sequentially hit each, thereby launching each of them directly at the enemy. As Mifune's held sword makes contact with each individual sword, he announces the number of each strike. The attack itself makes it extremely difficult to avoid damage due to Mifune's precise accuracy, which leaves hardly any room for the opponent to conduct a successful parry. <div style="text-align: center;"><em>Disorderly Line</em><!--center--></div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/thumb/1/17/Disorderly_Line.png/300px-Disorderly_Line.png" border="0" /><!--center--></div> Mifune initiates this technique by spining the current sword in his hand in a circular motion having several swords float around him. Following this; Mifune is able to keep the several swords floating around him, using them to conduct numerous other attacks, while intergrating even more swords as he continues. The technique itself is extremely versatile, combining both a powerful defense with an overwhelming offense, while still retaining the ability to effortlessly switch between the two. This is due largely through allowing him to preform his other attacks more easily while making it difficult for an opponent to engage him at close range, due to the presence of these adjacent swords. The technique is also strong enough to overpower and cause several major injuries to Black☆Star while he was using his Shadow☆Star: Third Form - Severed Shadow and fight on an equal footing against the Shadow☆Star: Zeroth Form - Masamune. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3109/2904899233_248612fb41.jpg" border="0" /><!--center--></div>
