What is Generic Artwork?
Artwork that is made as a general point of view. Basically, it's somewhat cheap to produce, but ultimately looks incredible.
Generic Artwork usually consists of big, wide bright eyes, small noses and a small mouth that extends large when a character smiles for example.
Elfen Lied, D.N.Angel and Full Metal Panic are examples.
In addition, yuri, yaoi, ecchi and hentais tend to use the Generic Artwork alot.
In addition, many modern animes use Generic Artwork, rather than the 90's and 80's, because in today's generation, the generic looks attracts more people in anime.
Why don't many people like Generic Artwork?
It's "cheap" and "unoriginal" to hardcore anime fans. However, we can safely say that all types of art drawings have had previous influence and been used in some form of technicality. Also, people are out to make money, so using cheap art drawings saves them money, and the artwork actually looks incredible.
Why do yuri, ecchi, yaoi and hentai use Generic Artwork?
As stated above, it's cheap and easy to produce, and looks incredible.
