Grandia

Information
The story of Grandia takes place in a period of steadily-advancing technology, much like the Industrial Revolution. The task of excavating ruins has been taken over by the Garlyle Forces, a military organization that seizes powerful relics for its own benefit. One of these items falls into the hands of Justin, a would-be adventurer from the town of Parm. Guided by a holographic image coming from the relic, he resolves to venture outside his hometown to find the mythical city of Alent.

Yeah, SoA was a game I absolutely loved when I rented it years ago. Somebody sold it to us and a coworker put it in the holding bin for me because he knew I had been looking for it, although it had no manual.

The day after I bought it he comes and drops something on top of everything I'm working on. It's the manual. He found one in an empty case in the back hahaha

Skies of Arcadia: Legends is one game you can't dislike if you enjoyed Grandia's adventure/exploration angle. You get multiple airships, and unlike in most PS1+ JRPGs, it has a world map. There are tons of hidden things to find on the map, too, and it's a lot of fun. The characters/story both a bit "meh" if you've played lots of RPGs, but it has a lot of value for fans who still get kicks out of the genre.

About Grandia: only Grandia 2 is worth buying, the original aside. It only last 20-30 hours - it having no extras - but the story is a hell of a lot better than the third's messy horribleness.

It's the cheapest of them all, I may take a gamble if we drop it down to $10 but right now I haven't got it.

did get Skies of Arcadia for $30 though. It was $35 but my boss yelled from the back because I buy too much hahaha

Not unless you love the battle system more than 1's story, characters, dialogue, voices, music, etc etc. I dropped it after trying to make myself like it for a few hours -- it only offering dungeon crawling and horrible everything else.

Hey bros

I have all the Grandia games at my work and I pay no tax. I can probably get the ones I don't have for $35-40, and I only own the first.

Should I pick up Xtreme y/n

I'm probably going to end up doing it there as well, sinse I have a habit of spending ages in areas like that. I think for this play through I'm going to crack on with The Tower of Temptation as well, for some reason it's the only thing I never got round to doing.

I have a PAL copy of Grandia that I picked up a couple of years ago, need to buy a NTSC PS1 eventually though for some other games.

If you're at the End of the World, you might as well wait until you reach the outside of the tower (with Gadwin). There's a save point near a pool of toxic water/whatever; making it perfect for leveling up water magic with due to the speed your hit points go down just by standing.

I need to replay it again, myself. I have a NTSC copy now... but with no NTSC PS1, it's no doubt going to freeze up on me for lulz purposes.

Playing through Grandia again now, up to the End of the World wall part. Just pretty much letting myself get attacked by the spotlights and blocks so I can level up my water magic some more. I've lost count of how many times I've played this game now, but it certainly hasn't lost any of it's charm.
