Desolate. Shelter and Je T'aime both feature a desolate world where the population is of minuscule scale. Shelter doing this with a lonely but imaginative Rin. Je T'aime doing this with a lonely basset hound only wanting to play fetch. Sad worlds where the solitary know all too much about loneliness. Both are good anime shorts you can watch very quickly.

Loneliness, some kind of physical desolation form virtually every other life form in the visible radius. Do both MCs find their way to the wish they desire in this vast empty world? Both are good songs to listen to if nothing else. Short to add to as well.

Both are set in post-apocalyptic worlds and make you feel sorry for the mc

Both Pendulum and Je T'aime are short anime with the theme of love. It is more extrinsic in Pendulum with more open and general themes. Je T'aime is more intrinsic with natural but overlooked styles of love. Both are good short anime made to pull your heartstrings.

Empty world, forgotten land. All left here, remains to rot into the dust it once was. Rain Town and Je T'aime follow a solitary individual in this void empty nothing. Simply wandering, and wandering, until time meets its eternal rest. Good shorts about the reflection of some kind in such desolated worlds.

Two sci-fi short films that try to reconnect its characters with the beauty and joy of humanity that is now absent from a dystopic world.

It is realisable that Je T'aime and She and Her Cat tell are both two sides of the same coin. With one telling a story of the dog seeking love in an empty world, the other narratives and describes the bliss emitted from such love. The love from humans, in both stories. Both are good OVAs that aren't a great deal of watch effort to put into in the first place. They look nice too.

The dogs represent the "look on the bright side" aspect of their stories.
