As the title suggests, this entry is made of two extra Getsumen to Heiki Mina episodes released in 2007 after the anime end. It is best to watch it like this:
EX 1 - after episode 5 of the main anime
EX 2 - after episode 11 of the main anime
I do not recommend to watch it differently, it enhances the anime experience more and there are some inside jokes that you can understand only if you watch it this way and it was the intended watch order for they were named 5.5 and 11.5 on the DVD release.
These episodes tell the stories of two different miina
...
(one miina per episode), the main cast doesn't appear much and they aren't important to the plot. The only common thing that we have compared to the TV series is the alien threat and that a miina has to fight them and destroy their evil plans of dominating Earth's sports events. The show has the same amount of weird comedy, miina transformation scenes, sexy shots, funny battles, so you could say it's not worse than the TV show and it's not better, it's just there.
The two central characters presented here are interesting in their own way, one is a blonde American girl (Halmina Goldberg) obsessed with Japan culture, ninja and the like, who wants to be a miina because it looks cool, her hero is a miina who does her "job" in USA and she wants to be like her. Prepare yourself for engrish, "de gozaru", funny misunderstandings, fights against rabbit aliens and lots of sexy scenes because that's what this anime is.
The second episode tells the story of the best miina, the unsung hero from the main show, the one and only Haibara Minamo, the woman who can do any job, perfection incarnate, best employee in this harsh capitalist world. This episode gives the viewer some few minutes of extra closure regarding the ending of episode 11 but there is not much about Tsukuda Mina and the people at SpoLunaTV and when it ends it just ends like your regular episode. It does have what we expect: Haibara working various jobs, aliens attacking sports events and Akiyama Miina (Haibara) beating them to a pulp in a crazy fight, I say it looked better than all fights from the main show because it was "bigger" and grander but it may be just a taste thing. No ecchi fanservice from Haibara unfortunately, I wonder if she has plans to work in the AV industry, she would definitely be a star there too.
The two specials did its job to expand the unknown characters and provided the viewers what they wanted, as in, action, battle scenes, ecchi, comedy, miina transformation scenes, rabbit aliens. Art and animation is the same, no major change, the CGI looks funny as it looked in the main series. The only downside to it is that we don't get a Mutsumune Escartin side story, it's no secret that people love Mucchi, she's great, yet we won't know if she became an announcer, we don't even know if she left her SpoLuna crib, that is really a shame. Also, no news about Shiwasu Miina.
Everyone who enjoyed the main anime should watch this, I bet people are curious about Haibara or want to see an unknown American girl fighting to become the best miina in existence with the help of Japanese swords and a skimpy outfit.
