They both revolve around a wise male protagonist surrounded by beautiful women. He is distracted by them , and in the end they become fond of him, moslty even fall in love. They are both fun to watch, and if you liked one , you'll like the other.

Both are about h4x0rz and have some ecchi content.

I wonder why nobody made this recommendation, as L and BPS are similar in many ways: - similar outer looks (round back, sleepy eyes, shabby clothes); - both are extremely clever; - both are badly adjusted to the real world, and both need another person as a support (Watari in DN, Misao in BPS); - similar way of working (both prefer freelancing and take only the cases they're interested in, main part of work is done via computer, both use nicknames). However, L isn't interested in women while BPS may have a look under a girl's skirt.

If you enjoyed watching hacking related stuff, this is another anime for you. Battle Programmer Shirase, also known as BPS (yes I know, very creative) is a hacker just like Lain. Both of them are very professional at hacking. But BPS is a little bit different from Lain due to the fact that BPS has more comedy in it while Lain is quite serious. Both of these anime is underrated maybe because it is a very old series, but don't let the animation bother you, let the mindblowing plot suck you as you watch these amazing anime thus you'll be enjoying it.

Mad programmer skills, check. Only can do what he wants to do, check. Li'l sister, check. Otaku culture, check. The MCs of both have somewhat similar characters, and both have been based in 'modern times' respectful to the years they've been published.

If you like hackers and crackers doing their thing, then these two anime might provide you with some entertainment. While BPS is a 15 episode comedy series, GITS deals in more serious terms of cybercrime

They both have to do with some kind of program and they seem so a like.I just thought of this anime when I was seeing Higashi no Eden but BPS isn't as violent and it is more ecchi and there its romantic as Higashi no Eden. But both are very funny.

The Legend of Black Heaven and Battle Programmer Shirase were made by AIC, both are comedies erring on the ecchi side, both have similar art and animation, and rather unusual premises. It's hard to say which show is better than the other, since I have a very solid, even impression of both. I can't even choose which sleepy, bored looking main lead I like better, since they both are two of a kind. In my opinion, TLBH and BPS tend to have a Napoleon Dynamite atmosphere sometimes with a kind of sleepy, mundane, awkward mood but with moments of pure randomness, funk,  read more
