My Hero Academia: You're Next – A Decent Movie, But Could've Hit Harder

It’s been a while since I watched Season 7 of *My Hero Academia*, and I’ve been missing Deku and his friends. After the intensity of Seasons 6 and 7, my expectations for the movie were definitely high—especially with a trailer that looked this good.

The movie itself was alright. The concept had potential, and I appreciated the darker tone they were aiming for. Dark Might as a villain was a solid idea, but the whole “evil successor” angle felt a little underwhelming. It could’ve been explored more deeply, with higher emotional stakes. ...

Giulio, the red-haired guy, was one of the standout characters. He was likeable and added some real personality to the story—I hope he makes a return in Season 8 (though I haven’t read the manga, so who knows).

Anas’ part was also pretty cool. Her powers and how they were used gave the story some energy, but at the same time, it felt like a power we’ve seen before. That kind of card has been played quite a lot in the anime world, so it didn’t feel as fresh as it could have.

Overall, *You’re Next* had its moments and was definitely worth watching as a fan of the series. It just didn’t fully live up to the bar the show has set recently. I’d give it a solid **7/10**—good, but not amazing.

I don't think this review has spoilers, but I do mention why I think the plot was dumb in various ways. I don't specify any events or characters, so I don't think you'll be spoiled, but read with that In mind.

Frankly I dropped MHA after finishing the 5th season, so a lot was new to me when watching this movie. However, I don't think that affects my evaluation very much.

The only good thing about the movie was the animation, which was really good and why I gave this movie a 7 overall. The story was pretty garbage in my opinion. The idea of a new ... All Might was quite interesting, which is why I decided to give the movie a watch. This new "All Might" had an insane quirk that could quite literally control the whole world, but just chose to not use it other than to mess around for fun. I can't say too much without spoiling a lot, but essentially the entire plot would not have even been able to happen had one character used their brain. This character basically resolved the conflict by doing something that they had the ability to do since over (what I perceive to have been, the exact time wasn't specified) a decade ago and prevented everything. Yes, this character quite literally had that entire time to do something that would have taken less than a minute, and none of this would have happened. It really was so stupid and if you watch the movie, you'll definitely know what I mean.

It's MHA, so we don't really expect a mind blowing story, but this really was just a classic "villain gains world-ending strength but trolls, then heroes come and fight and win because someone realises they had the solution the entire time and everyone cheers even though the city is in ruins". The ending was also gone through very quickly relative to the rest of the movie.

My mood with Boku no Hero hasn't been the best for a long time, so this will definitely affect my review, but here goes. For me, this movie was so boring that I couldn't watch it without doing something else, like playing a game or using my phone. Nothing really captivated me about this movie. The only thing that might save it is the character Giulio Gandini, who was actually interesting to watch at first because he reminded me a lot of Edward's appearance from Fullmetal. Other than that, nothing surprised me. It's another case of a Boku no Hero movie that doesn't add anything ... to the story and only exists to generate profit. The story is really weak. The main villain is simply a clone of All Might, which I found really lame. I also couldn't understand his abilities. He does a thousand different things, he even looks like a NOMU. Anyway, nothing pleasant to watch, other than a well-animated cliché with one or two characters with good designs. I don't recommend wasting your time watching this bomb.

Meu humor com Boku no Hero não é dos melhores a muito tempo então isso com certeza vai afetar a minha review mas vamos lá. Esse filme para mim foi tão mas tão sem graça que não consegui assistir ele sem ficar fazendo outra coisa tipo jogar algum jogo ou mexer no celular, simplesmente nada me cativou nesse filme, única coisa que talvez dê uma salvada é o personagem Giulio Gandini que de fato foi interessante de ver a primeira vista pois me lembrou muito a aparência do Edward de Fullmetal, fora isso, nada me surpreendeu, é mais um caso de um filme de Boku no Hero que não acrescenta nada na historia e que só existe pra gerar lucro, historia bem fraquinha, o vilão principal ser simplesmente um clone em aparência do All Might eu achei muito tosco, a habilidade dele tambem não consegui entender, faz umas mil coisas diferentes, parece até um NOMU. Enfim, nada de agradável de se ver além de uma coisa clichê bem animada com um ou outro personagem com designe bom, não recomendo perderem o tempo vendo essa bomba.
