This anime feels like a mix of Death Note and Breaking Bad. The fedora must be a reference to Breaking Bad. Also, at an episode the main character says my lungs are weak or something. Tetsuo is Light, Majima is L and Kasen is Mikami Teru.

Both the main characters set out to protect a girl from a psychopath / the yakuza organization while being the suspect for a murder, though one is guilty and the other isnt.

Both are Dark Fantasy, Dark characteristics/sides of humans. Killing people. It will be worth it if you like Vinland Saga ngl

Both have an older protagonist that is trying to protect their family

both series have covert investigation, sneaking around, bluffing around as its central theme with many suspenseful scenes

Both series are about people keeping up a facade of normal life while hiding their crimes. Both series focus on plot rather than aesthetics. The narrative style is also quite similar — the suspense (of which both series have a lot!) comes more from (morbid) curiosity about what is going to happen next, rather than from a larger mystery being revealed.

Both anime focus on a loving father and his caring family, showing how far they will go for each other. Although the plots are different, they both share a strong theme of family. At first, the stories seem wholesome and happy, but they also have a dark twist that makes it hard for the characters to live the lives they want. As they try to go back to how things used to be, they realize it’s much harder than they expected. They're both very refreshing, unique animes

Gaslighting The Anime Both of the shows are "reverse mystery", which means that we as an audience already know what happened and who is the culprit, while protagonist's job is to deceive other characters into beliving false turn of events.

Both shows include MCs trying to live normal lives while hiding something sinister. There are also themes of organized crime/yakuza in both; the difference is that one MC works for the yakuza while the other is trying to hide from them. They are also animated by the same studio.
