As the title already says, here are anime that fans of sports anime should watch. (I didn't include the sequences because otherwise, I would run out of space very quickly in this list.)

Animes are listed in alphabetical order. There is no requirement regarding genres or themes, aside from just the action taking place during the Taishō period, or being either heavily inspired by it or any event happening during this period of Japanese history.

Naturally, the list might be updated in the future. For more details about bigger updates, please take a look at the bottom of this Interest Stack's description ("Updates" section.)

Please be aware of the possibility of finding both historically accurate animes and shows presenting alternative history; or simply rather realistic series listed alongside ones that feature supernatural elements, albeit without getting overwhelmed with them. That's why I highly recommend reading the synopsis of a show that will catch your attention.

The list does not include sequel series. If you are interested in checking them, you might just use certain anime's page on MyAnimeList and see which series are marked as related to it.

Anime that are based within the Taisho time period. Majority are historical with a couple involving magic/ and or fantasy elements.

The Taisho era marks further Western influences in Japan from clothing to democracy. Still, the country makes a push in China, taking both island territories and areas into the North. There aren't a lot of anime set in the relatively short Taisho-era, but military motifs are almost always present.

Grumpy Jii-san was an anime reviewer and hiking enthusiast. Many of us were fond of him. This is the fifth and final part of a list of the anime he reviewed in video order from oldest to newest. They are presented without his score as mild encouragement for you to watch his reviews.

I tried to put together a list of sports (or sports-style) anime featuring women's and girls' sports that don't lean overly much into fanservice/ecchi stuff. Pickings were . . . Slim.

It would be nice if manga like Crimson Hero, Aozora Yell, Girl Got Game/Power!!, and other girls' sports manga got anime.
