These two shows focus on night life, where either you can't sleep during the day or you prefer staying late at night. Kou is bored and interested by his daily school life and decides to become a vampire hence he meets with Nazuna who promises him of becoming one. Nakami have troubles to sleep at night so when he meets with Magari it eases his sleeping which he always struggled with and as a result they start hanging out in the observatory. watch both these shows at night to elevate your experience.

Similar character architypes and character connections.

Although for different reasons, both feature the 2 main characters attempting to revive and keep alive a defunct astronomy club. Both series feature a significant amount of technical jargon related to astronomy. And, of course, the main characters in both become romantically involved with each other, though it's more nuanced and platonic in Koisuru Asteroid.

I get the same vibe as "Kimi no Na wa." When watching "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia". The MC and heroine like Taki and Mitsuha too. And yeah, the star. The story isn't that similar though. It's just the same vibe

They don't come out and say it in the Insomnia animé, but they strongly hint that Magari has a LOT in common with Rika. I haven't read the manga yet, and I'm assuming it won't go the same way that HanTsuki did, but HanTsuki definitely shows a possible future for Magari.

Insomniacs After School and A Silent Voice both follow a story of a boy and girl trying to overcome their own ghosts, so be it to accept their own past of bullying, so be it the past of a sudden dissapearance of a loved one, so be it to accept deafness, so be it to accept the aftermath of insomnia. Both stories are very similar, where the boy and girl are both suffering from a difficult past and find comfort in each other to cope with painful memories. A Silent Voice focuses more on redemption and self acceptance, where Insomniacs After School has more focus on  read more

- Both are slow-paced slice of life series which focus on the relationship between two characters going about their daily lives together. - Both have incredible visuals. - Both sets of main characters seem to only understand one another, mostly putting on a face for the outside world (trying to cope with responsibilities and hiding their constant insomnia, respectively).

- Both have protagonists with what could be considered a ‘problem’ (drinking addiction and insomnia respectively). - Both are relatively chill stories focused mainly on romance and the characters getting to understand each other. - Both have incredible visuals regarding nature.

- Both involve heavy elements of romance. - Both see their main characters getting into photography. - Both sets of main characters are hiding secrets from their friends (Irozuku’s colour blindness and Insomnia speaks for itself).

For you guys that looking for a romance anime that aren't full of cliches and tiring tropes, then these two shows are just for you. Skip to loafer is more a drama anime than romance, but that doesn't mean it was void of any romance element in it. Some sprinkle of romance subtext were thrown really subtle and well-timed. Meanwhile, Insomniacs after school (Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia) is pretty much a straightforward romance shows. I liked both of these show because how good the character's writing are and how they dealt the relationship between the main cast. It was very much natural and realistic

Both shows have great soundtrack, romantic fluff and chemistry. Both depict their everyday struggles that's specific to their circumstances in a realistic and believable manner.

These anime both feature beautiful animation, similar art styles, slow burn romance, and interesting characters. In particular the male love interests are both introverted and socially awkward.

- Both are mature romances focused on only one main pair (no messy love polygons). - Both feature male protagonists who gradually leave their shells as they grow as people. - While I can’t describe exactly what makes the two main girls extremely similar without giving spoilers, just trust me that their circumstances are quite closely related. - Both are complimented by their gorgeous visuals and wonderful soundtracks. - Both have a high chance of making you cry.

You really like star huh? Then "Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume" or "Planetarian: Hoshi no Hito" is similar to "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia". "Planetarian" story is about robot who like planetarium and want to save it, or maintain it and want star known by the next generation. "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" story is two people who can't sleep then form a astronomy club. As time goes by, they like stars.

Both are slow burn slice of life romance between 2 teenagers (altough Insomniacs are about highschoolers and Tsuki ga kirei protags are middleschoolers) with supportive side characters. Style and animation are great in both shows.

Astronomy. There are not many recent anime out there with astronomy theme, so if you like the theme check them out. Chi is more serious, emphasizes on historical discoveries and takes place in 15th century Poland while Insomnia is more lightweight, focuses more on photography and takes place in modern Japan.

Also has Astronomy as one of its themes. It's a very lighthearted and touching story.

A beautiful story about two similar and different persons at the same time that spend time together and fall in love. Lovely environment.

Both shows have a similar relaxing and nature-filled vibe, and the characters bond over a shared hobby. In the case of Yuru Camp, that hobby is camping, which provides the show with a unique setting. I think you would enjoy Yuru Camp if you appreciated the friendship-building aspects of Insomniacs after school and the soothing atmosphere it created

Interest in space and stargazing. Night time vibe also adds to the ambiance, but in different ways.

Both are nice, fluffy and iyashikei anime with little to no drama.

It was only a few minutes into the first episode of Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia that I felt it had very much a similar vibe to Fune wo Amu. And my opinion hadn't changed by the end, although it took me a few moments to actually put my thoughts in better order and give it more of a reasoning than just that. There is certainly a similar visual style to the two, but the similarities run deeper than that, with both series showing people who have trouble fitting in in their current lives discovering something new that will truly let them use their personal quirks  read more

Two depressed/ill individuals (Magara and Nakami/Hinata and Rei) find comfort in one another and engage in new hobbies with one another. Their presence supports the other.
