Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana - The Teardrop Crystal

They're both magical girls from the early 2000 inspired by western fairy tales. Prétear is a retelling of Snow White, Princess Tutu is inspired mainly by The Ugly Duckling and Swan Lake, but also by ballet, opera and literature overall. They both deal with emotions like grief, loneliness and sadness in a very delicate way. The main characters are girls with pink hair that are kind of goofy, but also very gentle and sad. Her nemesis is another girl with similar powers but a darker color palette. The love interests in both are a boy with white hair that is kind and softspoken, and a dark haired boy that is meaner, but also compasionate and protective. Neither of them focus on frienship as much as is typical of magical girl genre. They both have a melancholic vibe, but also have a lot of comic relief moments. read more 

Both anime: -have a smooth-like colourful graphics -are about a blonde boy, who meets new friends and strives to save them -have happy-go-lucky atmosphere with slight action and adventure elements 

Both are based around notable jrpg series from Square Enix has a character getting caught up in strange shit and both are pretty edgy from time to time to with its blood lol and also both have nice art and character designers and their respective composers coming back to doing the musical score again too.
