They're both magical girls from the early 2000 inspired by western fairy tales. Prétear is a retelling of Snow White, Princess Tutu is inspired mainly by The Ugly Duckling and Swan Lake, but also by ballet, opera and literature overall.
They both deal with emotions like grief, loneliness and sadness in a very delicate way.
The main characters are girls with pink hair that are kind of goofy, but also very gentle and sad. Her nemesis is another girl with similar powers but a darker color palette.
The love interests in both are a boy with white hair that is kind and softspoken, and a dark haired boy
