Both shows involve warfare against otakus, and the main characters are there to fight against those who seek to destroy the anime culture. Both shows use crazy visuals to blow things out of proportion. There are some big differences in that Magical Destroyers is more serious and battles are between foot soldiers, while in Rumble Garanndoll it's more comical and the battles are between mecha.

Well, if you look at the two, they are the same in a single quality, which would be the creativity of making a simple story where you can make it serious but add a touch of comedy to transform it in a parody, it has interesting characters and an animation that is different and very colorful, however much it has already started to be released, I suggest you give it a chance to enjoy something underground that this season has to offer

Both are about otaku culture and have a fun zany vibe. They also have many of the same staff members, most notably the director.

The two begin in a very allegorical and frantic way. The animation is fluid and similarly colorful. In addition, during the course of the anime, the mood changes.

Both are based around dumb concepts and are full of action

-Both share a similar aesthetic and have good music, while FLCL is a gainax anime, Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers looks like something that would normally come from gainax. -Both have been described as 'weird' and 'strange' as they can leave viewers questioning what they just watched. -They both even have a character with a TV/monitor for a head.

Both are love letters to (but also frank portraits of) otaku. Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers contains homages to plenty of Gainax shows, and Otaku no Video is one of Gainax's oldest gems.

An Otaku is given the opportunity to craft their own world, their perfect world. But it comes at the costs of other's lives/freedom. Both stories are heavily filled with references to the objects of Otakus' obsessions.

Seeking happiness through escapism by embracing nostalgia episodically in bizarre world settings rich with various otaku and pop culture references ranging from anime, movies, music and games are common tropes in these series. Moreover in both shows, the male protagonists for better or worse are troubled by blue and red haired sidekicks, both of whom fall more along the line of saboteurs than helpers.

Both series have the same zany vibes, crazy action and ridiculous dystopian setting.

Both are very random and loose with more of a focus on gags and quirkiness than actual coherency...and yet, have some weird, misshapen heart beating deep in the center. Both follow a group of incomprehensible/detestable women fighting towards vague goals that are never properly explored, but have a big focus on sexuality, gross out humor, and general irreverence. Essentially of the same ilk as something like FLCL, or PSG, but with lower overall quality and less of a budget.

Both of them have characters living in alternative society and fighting against propaganda and prohibiting something. In Shimoneta it's every erotic thing, in Magical Destroyers products of otaku culture.
