In spite of the descriptions and (Witchblade's, in particular) advertisement images suggesting the two are very much action series, deceptively enough the titles are actually character-focused stories of family and love. The sci-fi elements are never satisfyingly explained, and the pacing would put off those looking for non-stop flashy action/boobs/lesbianism. The averages of the two being at around the 7.5/10 mark is probably down to them attracting the wrong crowd; those not interested in the bonds of love shared by a mother & daughter and two 'sisters'. Both are highly recommended to those who value characterization above everything else.

Figure 17 and Kurau are remarkably similar. As well as having a blend of slice-of-life and sci-fi, the two share one other fairly unique element: the development of a relationship between two girls; one of which being an 'alien' twin, in both shows. In terms of characterization, Figure 17 is the better the two--the introduction of Hikaru into Tsubasa's once timid life changing her for the better. In the case of Kurau and her relationship with Christmas, neither of the two had a huge impact on the growth of the other, and the focus was always on remaining together as opposed to growing together. Both Elfen Lied and Kurau include female main characters that were subject to cruel laboratory work. Both of these animes include science fiction elements and are very dramatic. Elfen Lied is much more graphic than Kurau, but both do include action scenes. Also, they both contain romantic undertones.

Similar theme: strong attachment between people. Supernatural combined with slice of life.

Both include female bounty hunters, good stories and similar art style. If you liked one you'll probably like the other

Both anime talk about living Entities that been created or modified by humans, have main governments that are corrupted and have female MC's with super powers doing the tasks that are assigned to them.

Well, if you are looking to watch a story about witches pursued by a huge global organization claiming their powers, pain from not being able to live a normal life, dramatic scenes, and despair imposed by mad scientists and their immoral experimentation, then you are looking in the right place. Here are a couple of anime that reunite science and magic under the same roof which looks futurist. Turn on the first episode now.

Both series lean towards a more realistic take on sci-fi, not just in terms of technology but in sociology as well; Kurau does tend to bend the rules but still manages to feel like it's within the bounds of the possible. The two are quite similar in the actual style and quality of their animation (Kurau being amongst BONES's catalog). Ultimately both are sci-fi dramas with heavy emphasis on slice-of-life type elements and character development.

Kurau stars a female bounty hunter while GitS stars a female police officer with both based in a futuristic setting. Both have stellar stories and good action. Kurau seems better at involving its audience emotionally while GitS is more thought provocative, immersing its audience in its fictional world.

Do you love the high intensity, adrenaline fueled weapon fights with amazing animation? Both of these series are for you. Despite the huge setback in a forgettable story, both these anime works put action as their main target on their hit list.

Both Fullmetal Alchemist and Kurau Phantom Memory contain plenty of both drama and action. The main similarity lies in the fact the the drama is centered around the love between two siblings and their commitment to each other.

While the plots are not at all similar, the aspect of the main character's search for her history and acceptance by others is a strong theme. Also, there is a strong sense of "sisterhood' between the main character and the supporting character, mysterious supporting characters whose intentions are not immediately clear, and a few plot twists along the way. Where Key lacks action, Kurau provides plenty of it, and the fact that Key is set in the present day contrasts with Kurau's futuristic world.

Love girls with guns? Both these series feature girls with guns blasting their way through to gain freedom and find a sense of purpose for living their lives. Fantastic animation, detailed gun fights and jaded, young girls parading their skills as gun masters set both these series apart from the diseased world of anime.

Mafia conflicts, hitmen dueling it out and betrayal play dominant roles in both these series. Intense action scenes and the typical "walk away from the explosion while you put your sunglasses on" type moments make you forget about the plot and yearn more for the action.

Kite features strong, explicit sexual content but if it was removed, both these series share many similarities. From the jaded girl trying to find a purpose as she carries out her orders as a hitman to her fondness and wish to protect a boy caught in her mishap ridden life, action and a Bourne Identity style moments color their anime canvases.

Light hearted, yet heavy on character development and moral and ethical issues dealing with tolerance and equality. Governmental manipulation of public opinion and hiding truth behind a veil of lies and misunderstanding.
