Kageki Shoujo!!

After being forced to graduate from JPX48 following a controversial incident with a male fan, Ai Narata swears to never interact with another man ever again. Using her talents and strong desire to get away from men, Ai auditions for the exclusive all-female Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts. The school is renowned for producing the best actresses that go on to perform in the famous all-female Kouka Theatre Troupe. Coming from the idol industry, Ai is the perfect candidate for the school's hundredth generation class, but her aloof demeanor alienates her from her classmates.

The eccentric Sarasa Watanabe is the only person who wishes to become Ai's friend. She enters Kouka with the goal of becoming a top "otokoyaku" performer—an actress that plays traditionally male roles. After seeing a Kouka performance of The Rose of Versailles when she was younger, Sarasa dreams of performing as Lady Oscar one day. Unfortunately, Sarasa's inability to read a room causes friction between her and her classmates, including Ai, who reluctantly becomes her roommate and partner in many of their classes.

Succeeding at Kouka will involve more than just raw talent for these young girls as jealousy, deceit, and the harsh realities of show business put their mental fortitude to the test. Will Sarasa and Ai be able to rise to the top and stand on the silver bridge?

This is one of those shows that is SO incredibly brilliant and powerful, but it's almost to the point where I don't know if or when I'll be able to watch this again due to just how uncomfortable it made me. While I've never pursued this specific genre of acting, so many of the characters and their storylines hit so disturbingly close to home. I felt like I was watching my own life on display multiple times throughout this series. It's a painfully blunt look at the entertainment industry that doesn't shy away from just how physically and emotionally damaging it can be to the ... people who try to "make it" in this field. I'm relieved it got a bit lighter as time went on, because my heart felt like it was in my throat during those first few episodes. Every character gets time to shine and has a part of relatability in them that made me feel both empathy and sympathy. It was very painful, but I'm grateful that there were also healing moments that spoke directly to me and that I truly think helped me with things that I've been suffering with for far too long. If you're pursuing or have pursued any sort of creative craft before, I really think you'll get something out of this series. I hate how many times I've said this this year, but like with most of the best shows I've seen this year, it NEEDS a second season. If and whenever that day comes, I'll be first in line to return to this world.

Kageki Shoujo is the kind of series that you really dont know if you wanna continue watching after the first episode but after watching a little more, you cant stop!

This anime really focuses on the acting world, the ups and downs the performers go through, their dreams as well as their fears and for some, how hard it is to keep going and not give up. Acting is harder then you might think but what you really see in this anime is how anyone from anywhere can become a star if they truly work for it and put all their time in effort into their ... play. If you cant offer any of that, then too bad so sad, you have no chance to become one of the big ones.

The characters are well thought of, each have a special personnality and arent the same just copied and paste. In my opinion, in this series, there is no villain. You might think there is but no. Just put yourself in the shoes of the so called villains, if you were them, you would act the same because its jalousy that drive them to act like that and jalousy is normal in acting. The teachers are hard because if they were all sweet and candy, the students would have no chance in life.

So, if you wantto watch an anime were you can truly see what goes in the mind of future actors and how hard it is to be a star in the acting world, watch Kageki Shoujo! :)

Mixed Feelings

Kageki Shoujo's story wasn't as gripping as I hoped it to be, however it was enough to carry on and watch until the very end. Honestly, I didn't really hear much sound for the series. It mainly focused on character relationships and developments. It didn't really make me feel as if it was a drama academy. If all else, Ouran High School's Lobelia Girls' Academy was more expressive than the series.

I'd say it was still a pleasant and fair series to boot. At the moment, I'm checking out the manga to see if there's any glaring revisions or how much detail was stripped off ... to create the anime for this series.

Interestingly, the character design did faintly remind me of Honey and Clover's art style.

overall. I've rated it as a 6/10. Not bad. Not Greet. But good. :)
