Beastars 2nd Season

Criticism of human society through world of anthropomorhised animals, with multiple subplots of side characters connecting through the protagonist, and crime mystery thrown in the mix. 

i had the same strongest 'dostoevsky' vibe: while 'trigun' is concentrated on the idea of the pricelessness of each life, this season is supersensitive-flavoured; it's like you 16 again, and you ask yourself a bunch of different questions about life as a whole 

*Beastars 1st Season* as well. They're both similar to Zootopia but have interesting concepts. BNA is between humans and beasts (BNAs), while Beastars is between herbivores and carnivores. 

Unfair to compare daughter and father's work? Maybe, but just specifically with this season, even though fighting isn't the core element of Beastars. Both seasons built up the fight between two individuals and take a somewhat passive approach at times, that meaning they don't outright fight when the characters meet and it isn't much of a villain and hero deal but more about 'Growth' for both protagonists in their own manner, Baki obviously proving he's the strongest to fight his dad and Legoshi learning about the symbiotic relationships between herbivores and carnivores and defending his beliefs, constant defiance of ideology. They do end up being kind of contradictory, with Baki it's majorly about what he has fought before and how is it that Oliva is that different to hundreds of lethal techniques, even in the same season, and Legoshi's dilemma with meat. read more 

Anime that explores the dark side of society of anthromorphic animals. Violence and sexual side of things included, though Beastars is more psychological while Philip is more about "old-school" sort of violence. 

Concept of society of non-humans is used to portray a mirror for our society, and even though it is slice of life, sometimes the series takes a darker turn, though much more often in case of Beastars. 

Both anime focus on clashing ideologies, characters duking it out over a disagreement about what is righ as the plot creates situations that are allegories making a social commentary about our society. 

Both of these anime portray the troubles with interpecies relationship in a world of anthropomorphized animals.
