Recommendations

TV shorts that have the same atmosphere as them. They follow the same formula too and whilst I would recommend Natsunagu more than DMG, they both are able to create characters and dramatic moments in a decent fashion despite short timespans. "Aesthetic" TV shorts too if you wanna go that far.

A distant journey. Natsunagu! and Somali and the Forest Spirit both follow protagonists on a distant journey with the end goal of meeting a distant relative. Along with this venture, our protagonists meet a few quirky, helpful individuals, who aid them on their grand travel. In Natsunagu! the end target is an old online friend. In Forest Spirit, it is Golem travelling with Somali to reach Somali's parents. Both are great anime about the long travels people take to reach a loved one.

To comfort. Natsunagu! and Kiki's Delivery Service both feature individuals from afar being comforted by a goodwill stranger into their homes. Although the stories do not align, with Natsunagu being about Natsuna finding an online friend, and Delivery Service about Kiki's training as a witch. They are both good stories with wholesome elements here and there. Natsunagu is a TV short in comparison to Delivery Service being a movie.
