Both heroines (or anti-heroines) are incredibly relatable and amusing to watch. They deal with their problems in similar ways and have a strength of will that elevates them to the god level of their worlds (despite them being ordinary, cat-loving girls who would rather stay inside, watch tv, and avoid all their problems). The cast of characters around them are just as amusing and do a great job of causing mischief that our heroine has to deal with. It's really interesting watching how each show takes the most mundane thing and turns it into this larger-than-life drama which, if we're being honest, is how most  read more

A female protagonist that is a corporate slave? Check. Non-human companions who join this protagonist and adopt human forms? Check. A slice of life story? Check. Commentary about modern society? Check. Humor? Check. If you like one, I recommend that you at least check out the other, even if it is outside of your comfort zone (e.g., non-Japanese animation).

Both of these comedic shows have an ensemble of characters that revolve around a seemingly normal human protagonist but has a bloodline lineage of otherworldly beings. The main protagonists live day to day lives on earth and surrounded by these otherworldly characters. Hilarity ensues when they face day to day mundane problems and scenarios. It feels like watching a sitcom. There are heart-warming yet fun moments in the series. Much like a festival that you don't want to end. Chinese shows that feature supernatural beings adapting to the normal everyday life of human society and attempting to blend in amongst them. Hanhua Riji and Wan Sheng Jie both feature similar slap-stick comedy and similarities in character dynamics and tropes.
