Arranged marriages with drama. Both series has a slice of life tone involving the characters and their daily lives. Mikakunin de Shinkoukei has an additional element involving supernatural themes. They focus on back stories, mostly involving the main characters. Revelations are revealed and realism takes hold.

Both series has romance although Ai Yori Aoshi: Enishi expands on more than just a love triangle. The main male character has a stoic yet responsible personality as they take charge of their lives with their new circumstances.
