Synopsis

In May 2018, V-Jump announced the promotional anime for Dragon Ball Heroes, a Japanese arcade and trading card game. The video game has been adapted to a Nintendo Switch port for western audiences, whilst the card game is released under the name "Dragon Ball Super TCG" and is combined with the other card game of the same name in japan. The anime is expected to be short and it is not expected to broadcast on TV. It has adapted the game's Prison Planet Arc, as long as the manga original arc "Big Bang Mission" and "Ultra God Misson", also fully detailed in the Heroes manga published in Saikyou Jump, although under 2 separate canons. They have never been published officially in English. The first episode debuted July 1, 2018 at Aeon Lake Town.

Background

Episodes 1-50 featured 2D animation made by Toei Animation. For Episodes 51-56, the 2D animation was replaced with full 3DCGI animation by Dimps, using in-game models and assets from Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game.

Preliminary (41/56 eps)
Right, looking at the previous reviews of this I decided someone needed to finally make this review. I hope I will be able to communicate why I believe this more positive review of this series needed to made.

Not only is every other review super preliminary (most having only seen the first handful of eps) after reading some it's quite clear many of these reviewers don't understand what this series is at all.

Dragon Ball Heroes is a long standing Japanese exclusive arcade game, and this series is essentially an animated PV series for that game. Not only do they mention this and show the arcade machines ...

Mixed Feelings
This is very much non-canon and completely made to promote the card game of the same name. That being said, I loved this show. The show is NOT good in the normal sense. It's basically Dragon Ball fanfiction. Do you want to see SS3 Future Trunks fight SS4 Goku? How about SS4 Bardock against Ultra Instinct Goku? If you want to watch something that has alot of DB 'what if's then give this a look. Don't expect anything tho. Also don't bother with the last 6 episodes, I think it's called "Meteor Mission". They cheaped out after the card game was discontinued and made those ...

Preliminary (22/56 eps)
This isn't supposed to be an amazing anime, so don't go into it expecting something like that. This is a non-canon promotional anime for Dragon Ball Heroes, and you can see that these episodes are produced to show off the ridiculous characters in order to make money.

This is honestly just something chill to watch if you're bored, there's no need to take seriously.

It's best to watch this show with your brain switched off so you don't worry about the nonsensical story and appalling power scaling.

Ultimately, Super Dragon Ball Heroes is just an excuse to watch our favorite Dragon Ball characters fighting, and the show is ...
