Chiisana Eiyuu: Kani to Tamago to Toumei Ningen

- they both consist of three short movies - they both have very pretty visuals - they both are very moral based and have an underlying message to their story personal note; though i preferred modest heroes, they are quite similar and i can whole heartedly say i recommend them both and like them both a lot! 

I find that the two movies share strong themes and feelings. In Okko’s Inn, Okko moves in with her grandmother after the death of her parents, and she soon starts to see the spirits of two children who inhabit the inn. This story’s themes are family, friendship, and loss. Modest Heroes features three short stories that focus on different characters and settings, but all stories share themes of family and/or loss. Both movies fall under the same genre of family friendly drama with some fantasy elements, which makes it nice to watch them by yourself or with your family! Although Okko’s Inn is longer and focuses on one protagonist, I see both movies as good quick watches because even though they might not be the most memorable after watching, the movies gave me a relaxing and childlike feeling. Modest Heroes and Memories are anthology films composed of three shorts created by industry veterans. Each short film has a unique story and character design. Many anime fans will overlook shorts for one reason or another, but if you open yourself to them then you will discover a whole new segment of anime. Finding your favourite short film is one of the small pleasures with watching an anthology. I hope this recommendation will help you on your path of discovery.
