Disregarding Trigger works that went into another direction, Planet With is as close to TTGL as I have ever seen. Both give a cosmic meaning to the phrase "surpass oneself", intertwining action packed mecha battles with colourful characters arcs. They diverge though due to their relative positions in the anime medium. TTGL the longer forefather series focuses on raw energy and will, both in themes and in animation thanks to Gainax, while Planet With is a reflexion on TTGL: shorter, the plot and animation are more streamlined, thanks to JC Staff, while also exploring the themes of love and forgiveness.

Both are character focused action mecha series! Gridman has more slow, methodical character drama with big action scenes in the second half of each episode. Planet With has some character drama as well but, is more focused on it's themes and allowing the story to expand with psychic mecha battles throughout the series.

Both shows are from the same creator, so you'll find similarities between characters and plot.

Tight plot, big ideas, and genre shifts.

Both shows are original mecha anime that try to bring something unique to the table through their world building. While Planet With accomplishes this aim significantly better, Listeners has the more attractive premise. Both shows seem to struggle with pacing at times, but in opposite ways- with Planet With coming dangerously close to growing stale early on, and Listeners erratically hoping from plot line to plot line. If you want two interesting but flawed original mecha series, these will be right up your ally- but if you can only watch one it should certainly be Planet With.

Zvezda and Planet With both have a particular flavor of quirky, off-the-wall comedy combined with a fun action plot that lends itself to a series of hilarious and heartfelt moments thanks to their respective colorful cast of characters. Because of this, if you have watched one and like what you saw, I believe the other one is likely to be up your alley.

Over the top action with a stupid premise and great plotpoints and twists make Punch Line a very similar work to Planet With. If you've enjoyed Planet With, there is no doubt that you will enjoy Punch Line as well.

This series contains similar WTF factors as FLCL. It follows a boy living with an alien maid and giant cat who is his sensie, no explanation given, no explanation given. But then bizarre giant "alien things" appear along with 7 sentai soldiers to fight them. Souya is then bribed into fighting them by his housemates with the prospect of eating meat. Which he does in spite of not knowing which of these three sides is the right one. This is similar to how Noata is manipulated by Haruka in FLCL. Neither of them knows or even cares that much  read more

Both shows focus on a group of characters granted special abilities to fight off enemies. Gatchaman features powered up armor whereas Planet With features mechs, though the designs of both feel similar. The plot in both starts rather typically, but ends up diverging into to something a lot more deeper and fun. Lots of creativity and energetic directing.

Planet With = Bokurano Light Both are mecha series with a strong focus on adolescent character development and intentional theme exploration like, the importance of looking at things from new and different perspectives, the power of empathy AND sympathy, and recovering from past tragedy. Bokurano is significantly darker, and would not be an appropriate show to show someone under the age of 14, while Planet With takes a much more child/family friendly approach to its themes, yet both have a similar tone and atmosphere that will probably endear them to anyone who has seen and enjoyed one or the other.

Vore and aliens. Also, unique character design.

Colorful animation, plenty of unique characters and plot that offers huge variety of story elements (and might be confusing at first)

Both use mecha tropes to say something about philosophy and psychology, all while taking influence from tons of other anime to create their own unique identities. It also confronts those tropes in ways that furthers character development.
