Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria

This is seriously one of the most underrated anime of all time. I give it a 10/10, from beautiful art to a great and large cast all with personality despite only having 12 episodes, this is truly a hidden gem.

The story is isekai but unusual in that the main character did not die, when he is transported to the new world he is leaving behind people he cares about. Into a world of old technology and magic, he uses his knowledge of modern technology with internet searches to improve the society he lands in and ends up a benevolent dictator. This then leads to ... various wars with other nations.

The art throughout is truly incredible. By the end of the series I had my jaw drop from how good the scenes were, this is just truly an unexpected underrated anime. There are some parts that I personally didn't like but overall it was a great watch and the final episode is what raised my score to 10/10, it is very special.

I wish to see more series like this in the future, it was truly great.

A reminder that just because Crunchyroll tosses money into the development of a show doesn't mean that it's a good idea. The early stages of this anime were decent, maybe even good. But as the series progressed, it just seemed like an isekai show where they wanted to make a main character that was geeky and pure, but not making him interesting.

The biggest shortcoming of harem anime is character development. They rely on tropea for the male and female characters in order to quickly establish a foundation and get to the foundation. This show is a prime example of the problems with this approach. ... It results in an anime that is kind of boring.

That doesn't mean it's devoid of any good moments. Whenever they showcase the development of new technology, or new strategies in combat, it fascinated me. But those were few and far between, which meant that much of what you watch was filler.

This felt like it was a cheap creation meant to appeal to the more hardcore in the fanbase. Without an interesting world or characters, there really isn't much to consume here. Unless you're a diehard for the genre, or just an otaku in general, I'd steer clear of this one.

As someone who has watched more Isekai anime, willingly or otherwise, than I'd care to admit, this particular Crunchyroll-funded piece of garbage is truly the bottom of the bottom of the barrel.

Great Isekai anime use their settings and premise to elevate their storytelling and challenge their audience while using the other world to say something meaningful about our world.

Good Isekai anime feature a world and characters worth getting invested in.

Passable Isekai anime stay away from questionable plot points and lean into the ridiculousness of their settings, premise, and characters.

Normal bad Isekai anime have animation that doesn't look unfinished.

I acknowledge as a certified trashman that garbage anime, guilty pleasures and the like, do indeed have their place. I implore you to please find garbage that respects you and your time more than this agonizingly slow, incest-obsessed, unfinished piece of work with one of the most agonizingly irritating main characters in the entire genre.
