Both MC have hard life on the sports they like because they have not the physical for their respective sports, but with their love for the sports they persevere.

Hinomaruzumou and Ahiru no Sora follow similar story patterns, which is not unusual for sports shounen anime. Hinomaru (Hinomaruzumou) and Sora (Ahiru no Sora) are driven to succeed in a sport where their short height places them at a disadvantage. Their excitement for sumo and basketball influences others to join their newly established teams, despite their lack of skill or experience. You could describe them as a rag tag team of underdogs. Hinomaruzumou has a faster pace given that sumo matches in real life are very quick. Ahiru no Sora is a slower pace series with games lasting multiple episodes.

Both are about small redheads who make to become the strongest man in the world/Yokozuna. They each have great fight scenes and their source material are both considered classics.

MC share the same strong spirit for sumo.

Both anime are based on cultural contact sports with Shakunetsu based on Kabaddi and Hinomaruzumou on Sumo Wrestling. You could attempt to draw parallels in the main characters: For example Yoigoshi = Gojou or Date = Kunisaki but ultimately both anime explore the development of a team for a relatively unknown sport. You can enjoy learning a new sport and watching intense power struggles in either anime.

Both are about sumo fights.

Both shows main character is a "shorty" who wants to become the best in their sport of choice. For Haikyuu that is volleyball and in Hinomaruzumou its sumo. They are both really hard working, hard working at their sport. Probably works harder than anyone else just because they're both at a disadvantage because of their height. To counter their disadvantage, both main characters have to resort to certain techniques to win over their opponent. There are also similar events in both series, one is when the Sumo team and Volleyball team comes back from a tournament, they are welcomed back by their school for their hard  read more

Hinomaru Sumo and Baki have a similar premise in which the main characters train and fight to become the strongest. Hinomaru wants to reach highest rank of yokozuna in sumo. Baki wants to be the strongest fighter in the world to have revenge against his father. The series have different atmospheres because of their different approaches to the use of violence and friendship in the storylines. If you want the same atmosphere then this recommendation is not for you, but if you want more combat sport fights, more defiance and more manliness then this might be for you.

•Both MCs are OP but still have a lot to learn •Both revolve around a sport that can be played as team or individually • both shows are named after the main character

Major S3 and Hinomaruzumou have the same story structure: A talented athlete becomes a student in a high school that does not have a team for their favourite sport. Gorou and Hinomaru must somehow convince their classmates to help them form a sports team and aim for the top. Gorou and Hinomaru are absolute beasts at baseball and sumo, but their abilities are not enough to win in a team sports. Can the underdogs win? Major is an excellent sports franchise and Hinomaruzumou is a fun anime.

Both shows are about blood pumping battles between fighters/warriors to see who is stronger. Most of the martial arts and moves are based on real life but there are some spins to it.
