Hardcore fan of Spice&Wolf, I can't stop thinking of it when I watch Grimoire of Zero. There is the same feeling, the same ambience, a similar development between the two main characters. This is very interesting! I highly recommend watching Grimoire of Zero if you liked Spice&Wolf.

Both are set in a fantasy world where the female main character is a magic user hunted by enemies. The female main characters are accompanied by one or more mercenaries with whom they have a promise/contract. The plot is a about traveling/adventuring and searching for something. (Hitsugi no Chaika: The remains of the emperor. / Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho?: A magical tome.) [At the time of writing this recommendation only 1 episode of Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho? had been released. I tried to estimate/predict the direction this anime would take.]

The titles sound similar but the meaning are different. Both set in fantasy world where witches exist (although in Re:Zero, the witches didn't show themselves, but the rumour about them spread all over the town). In both anime, most of people hate the witches/consider them as enemy.

Both are about female witch protagonists who go on solo journeys. There aren't a lot of anime with this same premise

And of course I'd also suggest the Guin Saga, because the hero is pretty much a combination of Berserk's Guts' with Guin's Guin and generally the story draws heavily from Guin's saga in many points

The premises of living.. with a Beast in a non existent area.. may been.. very terrifying.. Loathed and seen by a wanderer.. who has a dangerous biological weapon that could end your life.. Wars can much of a deal in a tragic state... That every single one of them... won't have anything to remain them to be alive Same Setting... The only thing difference in this show.. is SukaSuka express in a melodic.. heavy wavering... tone while Zero Kara.. started much as a cruel.. assertive vibes

Of course Berserk. Because the "mercenary with giant sword, throwing knives and a scar on his nose" was stolen from Berserk (along with a loli-mage accompanying him) so why watch third-hand copies if you may enjoy the original?

Having watched Wild Arms: TV years ago I felt an unexpected nostalgia while watching Grimoire of Zero. They do have distinctly different flavors in a high level summary. Wild Arms is to the tune of a western with gunslinging, a few deserts, outlaws, trains and the like. Grimoire of Zero is a more traditional fantasy world with magic predating technology or industry that one might expect an old adventure game to be based on. The factors I drew parallels on, however, are as follows: * A muscle-bound seasoned roughneck type character pairs with a runty character who is more mature than  read more

Both take place in the medieval ages where witches and sorcerers are hunted and torched to death. Both stories follow a young witch on her journey and how she found love. These two anime's have a similar feeling and is simply just the best...;3

1. A girl who is looking for a companion to reach her goal. (Zero is looking for her book, and Togame is seeking for the swords). 2. Each couple has one person that over-power, but they bond together and look after each other. 3. They went throung back-and-forth, tough times that test their faithfull.

Witches and witchhunt ✓ Medieval times, kingdoms, knights. ✓ Revenge for a fallen witch ✓ Witches are actually good people despite normal people and kingdom portraying them as villains ✓ Garo is a more serious and mature anime however and it has demons and actually a COMPETENT ANTAGONIST and not some wishy washy idiot like what Zero kara Hajimeru had.

Both stories have magic, witches(considred as enemy), war and innocent victims. Main hero is witch who want to stop the war. End of the stories also seems bit similar to me. Even if it has different setting - fantasy vs more modern world and different tipes of characters, I think that overall they have same atmosphere in it.

The main heroine is similar in the respect that they have a fiery personality, similar wit, and obliviousness to certain social situations (notably money). They are both set in a fantasy setting.

Similar relationship between a big guy who hates certain things (Kyouma hates the Coils and future technologies, while Youhei (a.k.a. The Mercenary) hates the witches) and a loli who is good at fighting (Mira & Zero).

So there's this one quest the main character must do while protecting and caring for the most wonderful girl in the world. Weak, strong, alone or with friends, our obstinate main character might one day respond the the abundant feeling our favourite loli has to offer.

In order to save the world, the main characters are bestowed a quest that they could refuse but they didn't because they are kind hearted. Forced to drag along a wonderful loli in this epic journey full of dangers, they discover their partner's inner personality and start to be attached to them all along the way.
