There is one group that is able to control "things" that have great powers, but the world they live in is tormented and dark, not to mention filled with violence, death, frustration and a life that just doesn't seem just.

Similar feeling, similar world, both are talking about the main characters have special powers and fight against "something"

Both are very similar but different too. Some of the characters share same roles and strange creatures/monsters play a big part too. Both look sort of the same in style (but Mushi-Uta looks much nicer). One big thing is that Mushi-Uta is way better anime and Ayakashi is very gory.

Fate is thrown at the main character, and they are forced into a game of sorts to survive and protect what they care about, despite the fact that they have always been an observer in the past.

There are a group of kids who have powers forced upon them. One touches upon the before while the other touches upon the after effect. Both have dark tones.

Both anime are set more or less in present-day world. Main characters of both anime have supernatural powers that they are not awere and are also quietly protected from underground groups. Of course in time they learn to use their powers.

Bearers of mystical powers summon monsters who fight each other

Both anime have a calming atmosphere and tells the story of someone with a special ability as they learn to live with the supernatural.

Both begin with a mysterious girl and awakening supernatural powers within the main character. In both series, the main characters fight to protect people around them - in one against ayakashi, in the other against homunculus.

There is, in both, a shadowy figure sending out his minions... both use mist to cover their tracks, and in Ayakashi this has the effect of confusing anyone trying to reach his mansion from ever succeeding (although this was explicitly used in the Inuyasha games mostly)... both have the same sort of mythological 'monsters', since 'yokai' is practically a synonym for 'ayakashi', although in Inuyasha only one side can mainly control them. Both utilize tragedy and inter-personal drama.

- visual novel adaptions with similar pacing - the stories have similar climaxes - similar fighting system with monsters / spirits existing, but only visible to certain people - op main character

- same pace (big order faster) - similar battle system (demon-like beings help them in battle with different skills) - not-smart main characters - similar environment / world building
report Recommended by Sayaznk
- enemies look very similar (bigger, semi-colorful monsters) - main characters both have childhood trauma involving other main characters - similar pacing and overall similar casts

both are gore-y mystery anime who aren't necessarily action but not not-action? also traumatic experience in the childhood as well as similar abilities with both anime involving "invisible" superhuman powers

It's a "battle royale" similar to the Fate series (all sourced from visual novels too)! But keep in mind, the studios that adapted these were fairly new to the production scene at the time of making.

The biggest similarity between Mai-HiME and Ayakashi is the ability to summon creatures to help during battles, and they both have a good amount of action. The characters also spend a lot of time at school. While the plots are pretty different, they can both get pretty dark.

Both have some strange unknown creature users, lot of cruelty and blood. Not the plot, but the idea is almost the same.

What does one do when they end up with powers and a mystery that they need to solve? What is the truth? Both of these anime deal with powers based on a persons personality.

Fate/stay Night has servants, Ayakashi has, well, ayakashi. A loli that joins the party after being an enemy, a constant damsel in distress, some blood and gore and a hint of romance in both, the similiarities are quite numerous. However, both also share the flaw of expecting the viewer to have basic backgroud of the story first, since both anime do not show fully its entire story. However, it should be noted that Fate/Stay Night is MUCH MUCH better.

In an apocalyptic background, two groups of "espers" fight each other. These anime share the common traits of betrayal, enigmatical characters, and a protagonist that doesn't know what to do and who has to fight against people he doesn't want to.

darker than black is about some sort of parasite that crashed from space with a meteor, it gives super powers and have to give it something in return ayakashi is almost the same

Having great abilities has physical and mental costs in both Anime. There is also a lot of angst and bits of romance.

With great power comes great pain. And yet great power means you can protect what is important to you. The character designs for one of the characters is also very similar.

Ayakashi is an older Anime then Phi Brain. Both Anime revolve around children and people with special gifts and the one that stands out. Not to mention the power to control the world.

The main characters have special powers and have to fight to survive while leaving their abilities unknown to the rest of the world. Secrets abound in bothser ies.

A group of kids have special powers that other people don't know about. They have to find a way to save everyone else from those who would seek to abuse the powers.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both of these Anime deal with powers based on the reflection of ones soul. They also have a dark horror side to them and power can get out of hand.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
The world has a dark secret in both of these Anime that revolve around people having powers and abilities which make them stand out from the rest of society and be ostrosized.
