Dimension W

The author of Dimension W was the character designer for Darker than BLACK, and this little fact seems to explain why there are so many striking similarities between the two series: DW is probably best described as the author's very own edited version of DtB. Firstly, there is DW's dead-eyed, knife-rope badarse lead with an initially mysterious past as a soldier in a fictional war; currently finding himself working as something of a jack of all trades mercenary. Then there is the main plot involving a largely unexplained supernatural phenomenon that allows for all kinds of episodicness, such as even a ghost murder mystery story. So far, I would describe DW as 'Brighter than BLACK' and something of a slightly inferior series to DtB that fans of it will still enjoy regardless.  read more 

Small cast of main characters, good action, older hero. And I think its the same band for the opening song. Despite this being futuristic, I think some of the aerial martial arts has some of the same feel. Gangsta would not be the only anime I could use to be similar, but just for the opening song it fits well enough.

Dimension W and Plastic Memories are similar in the setting and character element. Both are placed in the future and live coexisting with humans and robots. In each show the main characters are a human male and female robot. Though Dimension W is based on an energy crisis and Plastic Memories is focused on romance and more dramatic elements. If you liked the futuristic setting in either show you'd like the other. 

Both shows in different ways deal with other dimensions. While Dimension W takes a more scientific approach to it. Kekkai Sensen goes into more of the supernatural route. They are also both written by creators of classic anime series Kekkai Sensen (Trigun) and Dimension W (Darker than Black). 

You will encounter the exact relationship between the Man and the Girl. Especially the apathetic middle-aged man Kaburagi and Kyouma. Battle and action rely on physical ability and the use of mechanical tools. The Sci-Fi concept of the two is nearly similar (I think). And you will recognize something about their World mystery (as the story progresses) Both are set in the future timeline. 

Dimension W and Clockwork Planet are both series in which a human male and a robot girl have to learn how to work together. The main male character in each series is a junker. In Clockwork Planet however, the robot tries to make awkward sexual advances towards the boy. While in Dimension W, Kyouma is more like a father figure towards Mira. Both shows also take place in a futuristic version of Earth. In Dimension W it is a future Earth where all energy comes from the fourth dimension (Dimension W). Clockwork Planet takes place after earth was already destroyed and a clock maker builds a new Earth entirely made out of clockwork. read more 

Great animes that deal with SCIENCE! Both main characters are named "Kyouma" and are a bit older than your average main anime character, what gives the story a different and refreshing feel. Also, they manage to step out of many character and storytelling cliches (especially Steins;Gate) and have amazing art and soundtrack. 

The shows feature a main character with similar personalites. They are crude, affected by past war experiences and harbour a dislike of the race of their partners. The stories are similar as they follows the view of two unlikely partners as they fight "crime". They feature a heroine who the main character doesn't initially like but he starts to warm up to them as the series progresses. A different dimension/world is important to both plots.  

MC in Dimension W is obviously inspired by Spike from Cowboy Bebop. It includes character design, choreography and initial settings such as job, friends, with whom he's not very close, troubled past with a woman. Character development takes different routes though. If you like lovable/pitiful idiots with superhuman fighting abilities, these two series are exquisite examples. Differences: art style; music (Dimension W sux, Cowboy Bebop has one of the best soundtracks in all animation); character development patterns; humor patterns; general feeling, you're left with after watching 

Main heroes in both anime are hard-boiled bounty hunters plus robot girls with exceptional capabilities. Lots of action in the futuristic setting. 

Dimension W and Planetarian both take place in the future. In each series, the main character, who is a junker, finds an adorable robot. However, the interpretations of the future are different. In Dimension W, the future is mostly positive. While in Planetarian, it is a post apocalyptic scenario. 

Both having sci-fi adventure and dealing with a robotic girl who are both cute and have an important part in the plot. 

These shows have a very similar vibe to me, I don't know how to describe all the similarities very well but it think if you like one of them you will probably like the other as well. 

-A future in which they use technologies that were used in the daily day and also in the war -The main character have similar present job and a similar past -A corpulent main character with a partner who has ability and relation with these particular technologies 

Despite both having completely different stories both of the main characters have to deal with a robotic girl who are both cute and have an important part in the plot. 

both are set in futuristic dystopian worlds. They are action heavy shows that make use of retro aesthetics and neon colors 

A MC with a lonesome wolf attitude protects a teen girl MC wich seem to be misplaced in this World.  

There is a shady-looking guy with a young looking teenage girl that oppose the government. I couldn't help but compare the two every five seconds in this show. 

A unique story with different dimensions of space and time 

Kiznaiver and Dimension W take place in a futuristic society. In each series there is a futuristic version of modern technology/services, In Kiznaiver it's kind of like a futuristic version of free health care, where the six main characters each feel pain for each others wounds. While in Dimension W it is a futuristic version of energy called coils, which were implemented after they discovered the fourth dimension Dimension W 

Surprised no one made this one yet. Both about the dark side of a seemingly perfect new energy. Both with an old forsaken genius responsible for the discovery of said energy. Both with green as a predominant color to represent energy. Both with a colored cast of characters. Coils = Shizuma Drive.  

Both Dimension W and Eureka Seven deal with a subplot of different dimensions. Eureka Seven has a group of Kids adopted by the title character Eureka that seem similar in some ways to the group that hangs around on Dimension W. Eureka and Renton have issues with family, and the loss of a parent to cope with as they try to find their purpose in life. There also is the undercurrent of conspiracy in Eureka Seven that adds to its atmosphere, which also feels a lot like some of the background for Dimension W. 

Freelance MC who can do (almost) anything + girl who is searching for father. Also the plot revolves around a restricted area Ex. Lost or Dimension W. Also similar to Darker than Black for the same reasons. 

Battle Angel Alita and Dimension W are series set in near dys- or utopic societies in the future. Both feature young women, with a cat motif, who are empowed by technology and take an interest in bounty hunting. Both are flanked by a grizzeld old veteran of the profession and have bodies that are much more sophisticated than any bounty hunter has need of.

A show that knew what it wanted to be, doesn't break any new grounds, attempted to tell a fairly solid story, opens up for more with a solid arc conclusion, and a fun cast with few annoyances. Both those shows also tried to have a few sub-plots too many and focused too much on the backstories of characters that probably weren't needed yet. 

Totally different level of ideal world wide civilization built secretely on dark crimes .. and the community is devided into with or against. 

Has a similar feel, good amount of character diversity, similar modern-meets past type of setting 

Overpowered MC called upon to play a hero within a futuristic world  

- Strange futuristic world. - Cool-headed guy and female robot buddy. - Both robot girls are very strong and most definitely lift more than you. - World building through episodic adventures arising from their freelance work. - Sinister overarching plots. - Robots and laser beams. The robot girl from Dimension W is more or less a cheerful moe-blob human and the robot girl in Big O is colder and has a drier, more deadpan sense of humour. The protagonists are also 'badass' in slightly different but equally neckbeardy ways. 

Similar relationship between a big guy who hates certain things (Kyouma hates the Coils and future technologies, while Youhei (a.k.a. The Mercenary) hates the witches) and a loli who is good at fighting (Mira & Zero).
