It makes sense to compare these two, as they are done by the same director looking to do largely similar things. They are both creepy, unsettling, and excellent cheesy "horror" flicks to throw on for a quick spook. Kagewani develops into an actually consistent and interesting story, whereas Yami Shibai is near entirely episodic.

Episodical shows about a certain supernatural kind of creatures that the protagonists specialize in and track down to deal with them.

They haven't really got anything in common with each other. But they are both shorts and are both "horror" anime from the Fall 2015 season. They also have unusual art and animation styles.

same artstyle, shares the theme of normal people encountering strange monsters although these are straight out monsters instead of ghosts and yokai, it follows a semi-linear narrative instead of an anthologycal one like in yami shibai, think of it as mushi-shi with more monsters.

If you want a good mystery that builds into something bigger, these two offer that in spades. They obviously both have creepy vibes, though I would say Kagewani is more of a cheesy flick than an actual horror anime. Shiki is more philosophical in it's themes, but it's all fairly simple stuff to understand. Either of these are perfect to watch around Halloween, or whenever you are in the mood to turn off all the lights and get creepy. The music in Shiki is also top notch.

Both series with short episodes featuring unsettling creatures and the people who encounter them.
