Kappa no Coo to Natsuyasumi

Both are bitter-sweet stories of creatures from Japanese folklore, existing or brought to the modern age. In both, society and the media reaction is important, reacting realistically to the creatures' presence, and their actions toward the media. 

Both centre around the supernatural and children who befriend supernatural creatures and become friends. They are both light-hearted and fun and have a bit of adventure as well. 

Both feature elements of traditional Japan- yokai for Coo, and the historical era itself for Shin-Chan. Same director, and of the Shin-chan films, this one bears the most similarities to Coo. 

While the stories are compleeetely different, it's by the same director (Keiichi Hara). You notice that too; the art styles very similar and the humour and calm atmosphere too. 

Charming, family-focused drama about a kid with a fantastical pet. Coo to Natsuyasumi elaborates on the supernatural element, especially how society deals with it, and some dark themes. Junkers' magic remains unexplained, and is more of a plot device supporting the protagonist's characterization and climax. Junkers is also more character-focused, but both have detailed slice-of-life. 

If you like kappa, you will love princess mononoke. Cause the similar things in this two anime is the beliefs in demon God. 

Same as kappa, this story is adventurous. I you like a magical creature adventure, like Kappa *well aside kappa being a demon God* You might love Ponyo x3 

Well I can't quite say that the atmosphere is the same, but the setting is. In both anime's young children come across some to say magical creatures, in this case Kappa and Totoro :) With Kappa a young boy plays all day, and after having trouble with the press and stuff so some weird and sad things happen later on ... with Totoro some or less is the same the difference is that Totoro is been find by a girl ... but in Kappa and in Totoro their family is also involved ... nether the less you don't want to miss out either one if you liked the other :) read more
