Synopsis

Takamine Kiyomaro, a depressed don't-care-about-the-world guy, was suddenly given a little demon named Gash Bell to take care of. Little does he know that Gash is embroiled into an intense fight to see who is the ruler of the demon world. All of the demons have to pick a master on Earth and duke it out with other demons until one survives. Needless to say, Kiyomaro becomes Gash's master, and through their many battles, Kiyomaro learns the importance of friendship and courage.

Background

The English release of the series under the name Zatch Bell! was edited, removing things like blood and nudity with Gash (Zatch in the English version) wearing boxers instead of being fully naked. The uncut Japanese version of the series has never seen an official English release.

VIZ Media licensed and dubbed the first 104 episodes of Konjiki no Gash Bell!! under the name Zatch Bell!, but only released the first 52 episodes on DVD. In December 2013, Flatiron Film Company later released the first 104 episodes on DVD.

Title: “Zatch Bell!” - A Shining Jewel of Shonen Animation

Rating: 10/10

Review:

“Zatch Bell!” is an unforgettable work of art that shines with its originality, emotional intensity, and perfect balance of humor and action. This manga/anime, created by Makoto Raiku, immerses us in a world where demon children called “mamodos” fight to become the king of their world. But unlike many classic shonen, “Zatch Bell!” is not content with simple fights: it deeply explores the themes of friendship, courage, and sacrifice.

Story and Universe:

The plot of “Zatch Bell!” is distinguished by its unique concept of mamodos and grimoires, where each mamodo is linked to a human who reads ...

WARNING!: if you are going to watch this, the story does not have a proper ending (the author injured his hand and they couldn't continue the anime, so they forced an unfinished ending) so you have to read the manga in a certain chapter to know how the story ends. I think it's understandable but i'm still disappointed of the ending that we have recieved and that is a reason why i don't give it a better score.

In general I liked this anime, this is a story of 100 demons fighting to be the demon king and I think my favourite part is the bond ...

This simply does not work well as an anime like it does as a manga. The only part that does work is Gash being cute due to the greatly innocent/cute voice. A big culprit in this is the slow pacing of everything - all the dramatic cries, the pacing of any fight, the way people move - which really takes the impact out of the comedy, the fighting, and the drama. It especially hurts the fighting, in which everyone always seems to have an incredibly long time to finish the opponent off, yet strangely never does so. They also cut off the entire last arc ...
