Both anime have tournament style fights where the protagonists are aiming to save the Earth from the villains.

Although they are not essentially similar except for the fact that both anime has something to do with ninjas, I think that if you like Naruto you'll also like this anime. If you're a die-hard ninja fan Flame of Recca is also worth checking out.

Both anime basically have a "fighting" contest in team mode with each member having a special ability or "power." Even though with Ueki, it originally starts as a battle for the "Null Zai," eventually, it does become a battle to save lives, as in the Flame of Recca.

Both anime involve a group of friends traveling together and engaging in independent fights, as well as tournament-style fights. They are both great series, especially for martial arts lovers. Both have interesting characters, each with their purpose for fighting, a mysterious group of antagonists, and a lot of fun to watch.

They are both about clans and people with elemental superpowers in a contemporary urban setting. The difference is the main character of Flame of Recca is not as cool and collected as Kazuma, but a standard hot-blooded (literally) shounen protagonist.

I'm surprised no one recommended this solely based off of the intensity of the rivalry in both shows. This coupled with the non-stop action and the overwhelming conviction of the main characters in both series. If you like one you'll probably like the other.

Both animes are about ninja with a solid plot and good fights with each ninja having a power of some sort

Although an old anime. Code: Breaker really reminds me of Flame of Recca Rei Oogami mostly resemble Kurei's personality and demeanor. The blue flame of Rei and the purple flame of Kurei's Flame from Kureinai her beloved who was killed by the one who adopted him. Same as the sacrifice for each power that they have. Rei's sense of taste using his blue flame and Kurei's loveone as his Phoenix Flame.

The theme of both anime revolves around tournaments and fighting. The other uses spirits, the other uses secret ninja weapons. I think you'll love them both.

both have extremely strong fighters and slightly head strong.

Both from the same creator and VERY similar. Both stories are focused around tournament fights and special weapons. MAR seems to be geared towards a younger audience, though.

Well, both animes are a lot alike in different ways. First off, they present the action and martial arts in a very cultural and authentic manner with Hero Tales being more Chinese with the Kung Fu, and with Flame of Recca being more "ninja" with the action. They also have interesting principles of how they use their techniques and how they can make them very distinctive from one another. Both rely on semi-belivable agility and technique, and also have that team gimmick where each member has a typical personality and their own individual gimmick as well as their own personal contributions to how they stand  read more

First off the main characters are strikingly similar. Both acquire a power, both train and become masters and have a natural talent, both acquire (Female)friends who turn into lovers, I can go on and on. Some more similarities. 1. Both have lots of fighting 2. Both have arena battles 3. Both have similar character development. 4. Both have the same fighting action design 5. Both main characters strive to defeat an arch nemesis who is wicked strong. If you liked one, you will like the other!

The two main character are heir to a feudal Japan clan, and have a heritage of a special abillity,in Kekkaishi the main is a...Kekkaishi(barrier master),in Recca he is a Enjutsushi(Flame user). And they battle for the fate or honor of clan. The main charcters brothers is first a enemy to them.

It's trivial but if you want the to the naming reference between some characters then you might like to watch both series, whereas Sayaka represents the blade, Homura represents the snake(probably Ouroboros, ergo time-travel) and Madoka the tortoise(could represent as spatial imprisonment, the barrier and her slow development). It also share the same equation from the anagram emotion substituted to ((E)+(motion)) that could represent the sum of heat energy & kinetic energy and the way it was conserved to prolong Enthalpy and slow Entropy(I'm kidding, but it would make sense) which where the plot also revolves.
