Both anime have tournament style fights where the protagonists are aiming to save the Earth from the villains.
Both of these are anime revolving around a group of fighters participating in tournament-style fights. If Flame of Recca interests you, you'll find Yu Yu Hakusho even better.
Both of these shows are awsome because they both do really good tournament fights witch are shonen lovers favorite
Almost exactly the same. Same style tourney for first major arc... Same style characters (1 main, 1 strong, 1 dumb/gutsy, 1 tactical.) Many more, basically everything except the fact that in flame of recca the guy didn't get hit by a car in the first episode... and they don't use spirit energy. Must watch.
If you liked yu yu hakusho, you would definitely love flame of recca. Both of the main characters in the respective anime are very similar. Both involve tournaments. And both have amazing fight scenes. If you liked yu yu hakusho, you would definitely like flame of recca

After watching both series, they are both very similar, even some of the characters have same fighting style. Both endings of the anime was the same. The battles and the enemies are the highlight of the series
Yuu Yuu Hakusho, now a Shounen Jump's classical, was a very important anime series for establishing Studio Pierrot as an animation studio for long running TV adaptations in the early 90's. With a charismatic cast of rebel and superpowered teenagers fighting their lives on deadly tournament against martial artists and evildoers alike, Yuu Yuu Hakusho was a super hit and milestone into the 'tournament arc' super trope.
In the late 90's, Studio Pierrot tried to repeat the same success adaptating Flame of Recca, a manga from the rival Shounen Sunday that, apart its own peculiarities, had the same 'cast of rebel and superpowered teeenagers' and the

Flame of Recca gives off the same feel as Yu Yu Hakusho. The main character are very similar and the art designs are similar. The tournament style fighting is also key in both anime. If you liked Yu Yu Hakusho you'll enjoy Flame of Recca as well

These two series are similar in so many ways. The characters align very similarly, with a main character with special powers fighting to protect a sweet girl he loves, his dumb and burly school rival-turned fighting comrade (Kuwabara/Domon), enemies turned partners a la Hiei and Kurama, and a main villain like Toguro (except better in FoR). They even have similar tropes and plot lines such as a "Dark Tournament," after which the plots go in separate ways. The Flame of Recca anime stops well short of the manga, so I suggest starting or switching over the manga at some point.
I actually watched/read Flame of Recca

Both shows have a tournament style event that decides the fate of the world. Both are in an older animation style and both are good! I recommend both!
They both have a very similar plot I could tell in the first episode that this was very similar to yuyu hakusho they have different back rounds but have an extremely similar plot yuyu Khajuraho aired first then tells no honoo so if you like yuyu hakusho you will also like Stella no honoo.

similar storyline, characters and also two of my most watched/favourite anime of all time 11/10 would watch again
90s battle shounen of very similar plot structure and appeal. The protagonist starts out as a delinquent-type kid who has a reputation of being the strongest brawler around, and after some short introduction arcs, they find themselves being forced into fighting in an underground tournament. The main difference is that Rekka is about ninja and YYH is about demons and other apparitions.
"Flame of Recca" is well-known for resembling "YuYu Hakusho" a bit too much, almost to the point of plagiarism. Various similarities include:
-the protagonist (Yuusuke/Rekka) a hotheaded loudmouth with a strong sense of justice
-their side kick, who is a simple-minded delinquent who starts out as a rival but later becomes the mc's friend (Kuwabara/Domon)
-much less analogous, but you have two other main characters who fight with the protagonist, the amoral anti-hero (Hiei/Tokiya or Fuuko) and the cool mysterious guy (Kurama/ possibly also Tokiya)
-nearly identical first episodes, where the protagonist dies or is seriously injured, then is resuscitated by his love interest
-more than half of both shows
