Both of these movies are CGI - both very well done for the years that they came out in. Appleseed Alpha is a reboot of the Appleseed franchise with a new setting/storyline, similar to a Hollywood blockbuster in the same way that The Spirits Within is more of an action/survival story than a traditional anime. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other. Both are stand alone movies (you do not need to know about the final fantasy games or have seen the other Appleseed movies in order to enjoy them), and the English voice acting in both is extremely well done and comprised  read more

A wild adventure in a wide post apocalyptic world , in a CG or in a drawn one , they are born to fight as mercenaries since there is no other options to survive , two movies with enough similarities , and for sure good shows.

Trigun: Stampede and Appleseed Alpha are post-apocalyptic, science fiction anime with a megalomaniac antagonist. Trigun has an engaging storyline with stunning animation. Appleseed is a simple high octane action movie. Yes, their animation is mainly 3DCGI. If you are a 3DCGI hater then this isn't the recommendation for you. Studio Orange is a standout when it comes to quality 3DCGI and Trigun shows their continued improvement in the field. Appleseed Alpha uses 3DCGI like a video game publisher so it may become dated over time.

This recommendation is based on the difficulties associated with living in a post-apocalyptic world. Their plot and characters do not resemble each other, but the main characters must make difficult decisions affecting others and themselves while trying to stay alive in an inhospitable world. You can expect lots of gun action to keep your attention, but Appleseed is a more straightforward Hollywood narrative while Blame tries to include some broader philosophical sci-fi themes.

Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction are popular subgenres of science fiction in anime. They offer an easy way to create a fictional world filled with conflict because everyone is trying to survive. This is the case with God Eater and Appleseed. Neither anime would be described as having intellectual themes and their storylines are not original. Instead, you watch them for the action. Anyone who enjoys apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction with a heavy dose of action should consider this recommendation.

Both movies feature two partners fighting against a megalomaniac antagonist in a post-apocalyptic setting. Their tenacity and bond to each other allows them to take on all challengers without fear or regret.
