Both titles are mostly episodic in nature, but loosely feature an overarching plot. There are Magical Girls, and pets. And in most episodes, a flower and its meaning in the “language of flowers” are presented. The flowers are usually also linked to a character in the series. If you are interested in magical girls of various decades and the flower language, both titles may be for you.

Somehow, when watching Hana no Ko Lunlun, I got reminded of Ginga Tetsudou 999. Both series are about a young person going on a journey, visiting various places in Europe (Lunlun) or in space (Tetsurou). The series are episodic in nature. In every episode, the protagonist arrives at a new place, and sticks his/her nose into the affairs of other people. Doing so, they get to know people of a lot of backgrounds and interact with them. The experiences they make are not always pleasant, but somehow the protagonists make it through all episodes unscathed. Also, both series seem to convey the same message, which is by  read more

Both of these series were aired at around the same time in Latin America. They tell the story of a girl's journey. Candy Candy explores more of the romantic and tragic life experiences a girl has growing up, opposed to Lunluns lightheartedness and magical powers.
