The atmosphere of these two is the same, not to wonder since they're both works of Otomo Katsuhiro. Same style of graphics and the escape of a powerful character from the authorities.

Well actually this is a recommendation to the 2nd episode of Memories "Stink Bomb". Both are how a little thing grows into a giant national-sized problem. It's the same type of silly comedy, although roujin Z, being a longer film, has more sentimentalist. If you like the comedy part of Roujin Z than you'll like Stink Bomb. Btw they're both created by Otomo.

Mecha ojii-san! Mecha ojii-san! This is what happens when grandpa turns into a robot. Also expect a critic on the way our society treats the elders.

Both about ppl that get involved in a very unusual mechanic situation, wich absolutly in the oldskool way pulls out all the damn stops, It aint over till its over eh!

VERY similar protagonist, right down to the intended profession, although a few years older in Roujin Z.

Both are about the combination of technology and human consciousness and body. Ryoujin Z doesn't go that deep as GITS but it is somehow similar showing how technology that was made to help people can actually be abused and can even evolve on its own into something autonomous but affected by human mind, wishes and desires. Ryoujin Z is not as serious as GITS at the first glance but it actually gives the viewer a strange feeling that there is actually something more behind it, opening some important questions about our society just as GITS.
