Both have child protagonists. Amnos They are from nippon animation. Both are directed by the fantastic Isao Takahata. Both are from the painting "Sekai Meikatsu Gekijou". Both are adaptations of classic books. Both are amazing, visually speaking. 

Both "3000 Leagues in Search of Mother" and "Remi, the Nobody's Boy" tell a story of a young boy separated from their mother, who are forced to learn the harsh side of the world due to poverty. The main difference that makes each one unique is that "3000 Leagues" has the main character largely on his own, making new associates when he goes from place to place, while in "Remi" the boy is accompanied by a mentor-like character. Both also: Came out only year apart from each other, they look very similar, feature animal companions, a traveling entertainment troupe plays a big part in both, and they are separated in length by only one episode.  read more
